Dave Carroll gets his revenge on United Airlines Dave Carroll’s ditty about United Airlines has racked up 3.7 million hits on YouTube and caused the airline’s stock price to plunge by ten per cent, costing shareholders $180m. Dave Carroll’s band, Sons of Maxwell, were travelling to Nebraska for a one-week tour in the spring of 2008. Peering out of the aeroplane window, Dave Carroll noticed his beloved Taylor guitar being thrown by the United Airlines baggage handlers. “I discovered later that the $3,500 guitar was severely damage,” excerpts: from complete article by kate pritchard   I wrote a post about something similiar to this earlier this month. I ended up using a luggage shipping company to ship my luggage domestically in the US. this  luggage shipping article was very helpful. this dude didn't just get angry he got even )P.. I am glad Dave Carroll got his due. I feel as though I got a bit of revenge with him as well.

Do you work for a luggage shipping company or something...?

Also I don't think it was Caroll's song, that made stock prices plummet 10%, its more likely to be the airlines in deep ****,huge debts and dropping passenger numbers.

i hate united not the worst airline in the states but ranks right up there with the worst. funny vid and story. since i am a constant traveler i see stuff like this going on all the time and its the first person that you complain to that makes the differance one way or the other

they're not called "throwers" for nothing.

I used to fly a lot.. and i was amazed at how often they could smash something buried in the middle of clothes inside a solid suitcase.

trocks69 - he probably had no choice but to put it in the cargo hold because its too big to bring onboard to fit in the overhead bin - he could have bought a seat for it a (ticket cost) how do I know this because I have tried to fly with my guitar I was told I could buy a seat for it if I wanted to bring it in the cabin...

Neo - I feel for this guy if you fix a broken guitar it will never sound right after it is fixed. the guitar probably had fragile sticker on it too..

faycyber - just make sure you don't put anything in your suitcase that is instrument laptop etc. like neo said they will damage it...worse yet leave it in the rain and all your clothes get wet.

When my flight landed at the Johannesburg airport last year, I looked out the plane window at the baggage handlers while waiting to leave the plane. They were not mishandling the baggage. To my shock, they were actually opening bags and stealing valuables out of them! Right in front of my eyes! I pointed this out to the passengers sitting around me but nobody seemed to be the least bit surprised. Luckily I hadn't checked any baggage on that flight. Nor will I ever again should I find myself passing through Jo'burg! What an eye-opener that was.

Shipping it you can expect it to get treated much the same, if you put a high value on it for insurance you'll be taxed when it arrives for a % of that....... no?
