funky_house 7 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share I didn't read through all of your post about Britain, but the film The prisoner, which was filmed in Portmeirion, is being remade, with Jim Caviezel playing No.6, and Sir Ian McKellen playing No.2.http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jun/30/itv.television Link to comment
AloneAgain 0 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share Actually my journal was in regard to Portmeirion which was the project that intrigued me the first time i came across it while i was living in the UK way back in the 70s but yes The Prisoner was also one of my favourite shows at that time two. Thanks for the update on that Billy Link to comment
Stramash 11 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share well, Williams-Ellis was English only by place of birth. Other than that he was Welsh through and through. Portmeirion is stunning; used to go a lot when I lived and worked in Wales. Not so happy about a Prisoner remake however; even with Sir Ian McKellen. Let classic cult programmes stay that way!!! AloneAgain 0 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share I was about to go with A Welshman's Dream and after I Wikied it I decided to go with Englishman should have stuck with my original title of 'A Man's Dream Fulfilled' and do envy you having been there it's one of those things that's always stuck with me all this time of what an amazing a place it would be to experience I'm sure. Tend to agree with you on the Prisoner remake but let's see what they come up with anyway. Link to comment
Stramash 11 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share sure it will be well made, but The Prisoner is and always will be Patrick McGoohan. I had friends who worked in Newquay who were Prisoner nuts - even had mini mokes to drive around in!!! you have to visit; is a stunning part of the UK to spend time in. Link to comment
PeterH61 1 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Share McKellen, great as he is, as No. 2 misses one of the points of The Prisoner - every episode there was a new No. 2. And I agree with you Iain, the Prisoner always was and always will be the late Patrick McGoohan Link to comment
