Get funky!!

Follow on from Teddy, and didn't want to kick up the tempo too much after that nice dubby tune, so have chosen one of my guilty pleasures to start with; 'GetFunky' by Return of the Living Acid from 1991. Not a complex track but has the essential ingredients from back in the day; long bass notes, 303s and a nice hip hop sample (from Afrika Bambaata). More of a set starter (or a room 2 tune) than peak dancefloor filler, this is still imo, a classic.

And to follow on, a tune from perhaps my favourite label of the last 20 years, Warp Records, and the 1992 Kid Unknown track 'Nightmare'. A big feature of a lot of the early breaks records was the use of hip hop samples, and this borrows Ice T (who has gone from hip hop bad boy to appearing on **** UK show 'Celebrity Mr and Mrs' - sad, so sad). Quite a spooky tune (always a Warp feature imo) this goes nicely with 'Get Funky'

Miss J - old enough to know better, young enough not to give a damn!!! ; )

Teddy - you should really check out most Warp stuff from circa 1991 - 1994 - lots of nice bleeps'n' breaks stuff.

Couldn't believe Ice T on Mr and Mrs - a truly WTF moment!!!!
