I know a photographer who is holding courses to teach digital photography. (If this is too much of an advert, feel free to delete it; I know the guy, we're not buddies)

His email address is http://www.finfoto.com/gallery/faculty.html

The first course starts on 8th September and is as follows...

Introduction to Digital Photography Morning Class

This introductory course is ideal for people who would like to improve their pictures by understanding their camera better.

Course Goals

The main goal of the course is to teach you to take better pictures with your camera.

The course will allow you to get out of the “fully automatic” mode of your camera and get more in control to produce better images. You will by the end of the course understand the manual settings on your camera and how to use them to the best effect.

 Course Structure

There will be 5 classes, each lasting two hours. Groups are small and held in a workshop style with lots of hands on practice, pictures, and open discussions. One of the classes will be an outdoor workshop where we will put into practice the skills learnt in the previous lessons.

There will be homework at the end of each class which will be reviewed as a group in the beginning of the following class.

Subjects covered

We will explore focusing, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and composition.

It will provide information about light metering, lenses, as well as tips and tricks about taking great pictures. Information on camera care in Bangkok will also be available.

What is required?

Any brand of Digital SLR Camera & a quick read of your camera manual is helpful though not mandatory.

Course Schedule

Wednesday mornings: 8th Sept. – 6th Oct.  9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Place: RMA Institute, Soi Sai Nam Thip 2, Sukhumvit Soi 22. MAP

Is this person even a member? or is this just a trade off so you get a discount on work he's doing for you?

Most people that join just to promote their business get deleted, but I guess this is an exception....lolol.

How's the correspondence going with your Nigerian pen pal?

The guy isn't a member - he's just a good photographer. There's no discounts or kickbacks - I promise. (Cos he could always just join himself and post it)

jonathan taylor IS a member and also a good photographer.

You should tell him to teach some basic classes such as composition and light. Knowing how too use a camera does not make a person a photographer, but I am old school and still shoot large format film and might shoot 2 or 3 pics a day. If you want to see what real photography is visit a man I know in London. just Google Wolfgang Moersch and look at the top for his Gallery, But if you really want to know the the science visit a website of another man in London, Dr. Mike Ware or Dr. Tim Rudman.
