This is a dish called ‘Foie Gras’ we had it at our dinner last Friday night at a ‘a few star’ hotel along Ratchada Rd.,

Mispics008.jpg

There was a dinner buffe which has various choices of foods for choose, my sister picked one of this dish with had no idea what it called she said the chef called it ‘Fo Gar†but its just medium-grilled duck liver with berries sauce. We tried it and ordered ( the chef stand by in the stall and cook it by order) more. We had it about 6-7 dishes for all of us 4 people.

Due of my curiosity, today I did some searching for more details what it actually is since it’s taste , gravy and sauce were so delicious yet different from what we have had before and the dish’s name is sounds familiar / famous.

The result got me wanted to vomit.

There is only one picture of ‘Foie Gras’ that look like the dish we had last Fri night, the rest are pictures of ducks cruelly force-feeding and website anti-cruel feeding live stocks.

Now I feel guilty and swear to self that will never ever eat it again.

Me neither; but if it is produced outside of France, it often does not involve the cruel practice of force feeding. So if you did like it, just check on where it is sourced from : )

Exactly! In Hungary for instance, farmers play Mozart in order to give appetite to the animals that then cannot stop eating. In contrary, it would be cruel NOT to put food in their huge walking territory every ten minutes or so. Scientists even found out that the animals release endorphines when listening to Mozart, especially the "Little Night Music", and eating at the same time. Therefore, Hungarian geese farmers have been awarded with the WWF Animal Friends Award! Don't know why the French did not discover this phenomenon yet (Maybe Bizet or Saint-Saens are a bit too weird for geese).

Actually, the real foie gras is from geese and not from ducks!

If you look at how other animals are treated from pigs all the way to shrimps, you would only be eating salad leaves from tomorrow onwards.

You obviously have no idea the horrific conditions some lettuce is grown in...
