Is the plan only to read the eponymous story? Or all in the book?

The film is an amazing adaptation (by Nicholas Roeg). The book also contains 'The Birds' - turned into the classic (and damned scary) Hitchcock film!

I guess it would have made more sense if I said, "your smart."
