Oh My! Another weekend over already!!! Oh well, I suppose that I'm just that much closer to my next trip to Thailand. I was emailing a fellow TF member and we were talking about the difference,if any, of raising a child in America or raising a child in Thailand. Maybe its my negative attitude towards my own home at times but Thailand seems like a safer place which also instills values such as respect, culture and tradition. She however seems to think some of those values may be lost in the next generation as cyberspace, media etc,etc....(MTV) brings people from all over the world together. I would truely hate for someday the smiles of Thailand to be replaced frowns!!! Have a good day,Delmar

Hello Delmar. I believe society has too much say in how parents raise their children. Governments seem to be hypocritical when it comes to parents and their kids. When governments can take care of all the people in their country, then maybe they should have so much say in how we raise our children, it's hard enough. I hope you understand my point here, sometimes i'm not so clear. Have a great day Delmar.

Bobby, your point understood clearly. To put it more bluntly, in my day as a child, If I didn't something wrong I got my ass slapped. Nowadays, doing that could land you in jail in some states. It's different in all parts of the world. I've seen in Europe, where parents tend to be more lenient on there children, but they don't seem to get in as much trouble either. I've seen in Asia that parents tend to keep tighter reigns on there children. IMHO, this can cause a lot of curiousity amoung children and make the either sneak around to do thing or become rebellious. At the same time I think it creates and instills better family values, something that seems to have been lost here in America.

Education begins in the home. Nothing could possibly be better for a child's education than the examples set by their parents. Sure society plays a part but it is up to parents to instill core values in their child so that they can grow to become responsible adults.
