According to Furtune magazine (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/bestcompanies/2010/) best companies (2010) to work for : (in the USA, of course)

Number 1 is SAS :

What makes it so great?

One of the Best Companies for all 13 years, SAS boasts a laundry list of benefits -- high-quality child care at $410 a month, 90% coverage of the health insurance premium, unlimited sick days, a medical center staffed by four physicians and 10 nurse practitioners (at no cost to employees), a free 66,000-square-foot fitness center and natatorium, a lending library, and a summer camp for children.

The architect of this culture -- based on "trust between our employees and the company" -- is Jim Goodnight, its co-founder, and the only CEO that SAS has had in its 34-year history.

Some might think that with all those perks, Goodnight was giving away the store. Not so. SAS is highly profitable and ranks as the world’s largest privately owned software company. Turnover is the industry’s lowest at 2%.

(I thought it was SAS : Scandinavian Airlines. If so, that’s gonna be a big joke as for SAS just flied their employees and had got some money support from the government and that money is from taxes-payers, like me for exp).

2. Edward Jones

3. Wegmans

4. Google

5. Nugget Market

6. DreamWorks Animation

Starbucks Coffee came Nr.93 and with -27% of job growth.

Novo Nordisk came nr. 25. Bravo!!!

I was wondering the same while I read the headline there..

Talk about SAS.. it reminds me Saab.

Saab was bought by Spike (Holland) and Sweds gov put another 4 billions to help.. and the gov said.. this will not touch tax money.. yeah right!

It turned out that.. it was tax money that they paid..

This gov sucks! They try to sell all the state things to private..

Soon only rich ppl can afford..

No one to blame but Sweds.. they chose themselves..

I know how you feel. The Dane gov. used taxes money to support SAS but they are cutting down budget for hospitals. Many nurses and hospital staffs get laid out.

My 100 kr. is at SAS. I want it back!!!

for what it is worth Nicky...

SAS is headquartered about 3 km for my office

here in North Carolina. I have had several small projects over on their site-- rather like Disneyland and theor employees seem very satisfied.

-- as aside note (and coincedentally with the SAS airline tangent) -- the founder 15 or so years ago in a bit of "I can be sucessful at anything" bought up a US discount airline in an attempt to turn it around....

Did not work and went bankrupt. To his credit apparently he did not risk anything at SAS itself, and it has continued it's sucess.

Positive surprise that SAS channels so much back to the employees. Ive been of quite a few projects with SAS people and to date they are the most expensive bunch for the enduser ive ever met in the business.

Complex system so maybe its justified, but positive to see it doesnt just end up in some other pockets, so thats nice.
