I just can't find a good ... in Thailand

My trip to Thailand is fast approaching (75 days and counting). Slowly everything is falling into place .. passport, vaccination, visa, etc.

This question goes out to all the farang who are in and have been to Thailand.

While you were there was there anything you couldn't find or buy? Or find good quality of? I am talking anything from deodorant to books. Ketchup to shoelaces. Were there socks that didn't come in farang size? Etc.

I am going to be in Thailand for 4-5 months so I plan to come with a fairly light bag. I plan to buy most things when I get there. If there is anything I should stock up on before I leave please let me know.

TIA

most of the stuff you get here is somewhat good quality but if you like good quality socks that are made for boots and stuff like that get them while you have a chance. I buy all my clothing here to take back to work with me all the time so if it puts up with hard labor it is a pretty good stuff.

Actually I was kind of joking when I said socks. I was trying to get across that I was referring to anything.

Just bring a lot of dollars or traveler checks or credit cards...As I used to be in America for a while, I think the cost of things in Thailand and America are not different. Well, of course you can find 'Made in Thailand' products more than 'Made in China' ones here...lol

Well, as long as you don't go shopping in Siam Paragon, you can just bring yourself to Thailand, hun.

Hmmm ... a lady telling me to bring a lot of dollars or traveler checks or credit cards ... should I be worried?

Haha!

I don't live in BKK, so this is probably not true there... but here in the south, where we don't even have a department store (tesco coming later this year.. yeah!)

but after living here for 3 years i am unable to find the following:

Razors - you can get them, but they are either crap or about double the price as in the west

nasal spray - this isn't much of an issue, but when i get really really sick, this is the only thing that works, like Afrin, pharmacies, if they carry it at all, are not allowed to sell it to you presumably because of the Ephedepherine (or whatever that word is)

functioning camping gear.... I don't camp, but a couple of my guests wanted to because i suppose they enjoy sleeping in an outdoor oven, and using compasses on clearly marked trails, but if you are into that sort of thing, we don't have em unless you buy them at the Army surplus stores, which are a joke.

Deli meats... watery chicken ham is all we have, not applicable to BKK.. the selection there is great

Anything manufactured by Apple: I don't use a mac, nor do i own an Ipod, but it is my understanding that many people do... there is no way to get these things serviced in Krabi as well as probably most other small places (even in Phuket it is hard to get any Mac stuff)

Anything related to a big foot (like, over a size 10): if you do find it around here, it is rare, and carries a "rare" price with it too.

That is all i can think of at the moment... except refried beans, but you don't need those

Shoes (trainers as well, but shoes are more of a problem)

Sandwiches

Salt and Vinegar Crisps

Wine (unless you pay 3 times the price you would in Europe!)

Sports Cars (see above)

Big Motorbikes (see above)

Still beats living in the UK anyday :D

Ok, should have been 'decent wine'...

pretty much anything you need you can unless like said you have extreme farang size feet, are very tall, or very fat.

Then you can always get everything tailored for anywhere from 1/4 to 1/10 the cost it would cost where you come from! I live in NYC and getting tailored clothes here can be a mortgage payment!

Pullovers, sweaters and Gore-Tex products, i.e. winter equipment is pretty hard to find :D

Wine - the range of wine in Thailand is quite a shame and prices for crappy quality are ridiculous. Always bring my own.

OK, maybe you are joking... but why would I need sweaters? I plan to bring one hoodie and hope that will be good enough. :P

Blow Jobs.

Thai women are possibly the worst in the entire world at giving Blow Jobs! Thailand is a great country but the women let it down on the Blow Job front in fact the only thing I have negative to say about Thailand is the really really bad blow jobs.

* Its called reverse sycoligi... physcoligie.... cycologicy.... It's a trick!*

Bring your own condoms ~ The durex don't fit. to narrow and not long enough. I had plenty of trojans to last.

The Shoes part is right over size 10 always bring your own at least 2 pairs. I stayed for 6 months and wore out a pair walking around BKK.

Razors suck.

Bring your own deodorant smells like most people forget that! LOL...

When I stand next to a white dude it's like what the hell smells like an old shoe.

Shirts are hard to find in XL usually some of them are not marked on the streets and etc.I just have a bunch with me,I bring all my clothes from here.

Brush your teeth using bottled water, other than that I am out of things right now, but hope it helps.
