Chatty
Do you know any place that can teach English and made their students, speak, listen, write perfect English or almost perfect English? My friend asked me that cuz she wanna get a job in 2 months... I don't know, I'm blank... To be honest I have been study English my whole life, well almost whole life... Start when I was 10 years in Primary School (Didn't start with ABC, but we start with sentence such as "What is that?" "That is a hat") And so on and on and on... And then My English subject got F. (That another story, and it was so unfair, i might tell you later) so my dad sent me to study English at AUA. from level1 until level 15 plus Writing, Speaking, Listening courses. tatally about 3 years. Then I got 3 English course at work, plus 1 course of Medical term... I can say my English... still "Sucks" So I really have no idea where's that place, enlighten me... laragirl
I started before i went to school.. my parents let me watch lots of english TV without subtitles i guess... and well they spoke in english to me when i was young too. I think the people from Sesame Street were all good... Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Ernie and Bert... I think learning another language when you're older is more difficult. After 3 years and 7 months here in Bangkok, I still can't speak Thai!

g0mer
no one will learn a English in 2-3 months, not so they are fluent. Unless you are studying maybe 24 hours a day, but no ones gonna do that. Not everyone can be taught the same way either, everyone learns the material differently
AAAum
l like English.... especially grammar... I took special English classes since i studied high school... and continued till i finished Bachelor degree...private class at home. My teacher is Singaporean, lives&works in BKK but can speak Thai as native speaker. afterward i took class at AUA... both regular and intensive class... mostly i try to practise by myself... reading magazine, newspaper, articles, grammar books or writing email .... now my speaking is worst!!! PeeMarc
I think one of the best ways to learn English is to read many different, good quality English authors and also to speak with people who speak good english. From this, one can get so many examples of different ways the language is used. Any language is little like music. There are only so many letters, symbols and words but there are endless ways to say or express something. I see so much of the grammar used by Thai people is learnt (and then used) from people who dont speak well. Part of this problem is the quality of the teachers here and part of it is Westerners speaking 'simplified English' in conversations with Thai people. For example: "You go shop? I go also." (incorrect) "Are you going to the shop? I will go with you too." "Will you be going to the shop? If so, I would like to accompany you there." "If you are going to the shop, I will join you." "Can I go with you to the shop?" "Let's go to the shop together. Shall we?" Its just the same to learn and use bad English as it is to learn and use good English.
