Jaymi
WE WILL BE CLEANED ON DECEMBER 2012, IN 4 YEARS? :? Mayan comprehension of time, seasons, and cycles has proven itself to be vast and sophisticated. The Maya understand 17 different calendars, some of them charting time accurately over a span of more than ten million years. As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth changes. All this, Mr. Barrios says, was foreseen via the simple, spiral mathematics of the Mayan calendars. "It will change," Mr. Barrios observes. "Everything will change." He said Mayan Daykeepers view the Dec. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from ? and signified by ? the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy. At sunrise on December 21, 2012 ? for the first time in 26,000 years ? the Sun rises to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic, describing in the sky a great cross of stars and planets. This cosmic cross is considered to be an embodiment of the Sacred Tree, The Tree of Life ? a tree remembered in all the world?s spiritual traditions. Some observers say this alignment with the heart of the galaxy in 2012 will open a channel for cosmic energy to flow through the earth, cleansing it and all that dwells upon it, raising all to a higher level of vibration. This process has already begun, Mr. Barrios suggested. "Change is accelerating now, and it will continue to accelerate." If the people of the earth can get to this 2012 date in good shape, without having destroyed too much of the Earth, Mr. Barrios said, we will rise to a new, higher level. But to get there we must transform enormously powerful forces that seek to block the way. 4 YEARS TO GO ... HOPE ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

WHISKERS
I remember seeing a documentary many, many years ago decribing the Mayan/Aztec calendars and their calculations . . . they needed to use a starting point AND an ending point. The ending point comes in 2012 . . . that does not mean time will end or that Armegedon is upon us . . . it means it's time to make a new calculation . . . As far as cleaning up the earth . . . well that's just plain common sense . . . We make the necessary adjustments to live within the bounds of nature . . . or . . . we pay the piper . . . LakeGeneve
WE WILL BE CLEANED ON DECEMBER 2012, IN 4 YEARS? :? From the title I thought this was something about a world wide clonic irrigation day! The Mayans were seemingly on the ball with many things but then they just all decided to abruptly depart the scene. A bit unfair I think. (Tom Robbins in Half Asleep in Frog PJs suggests they went to the star system Sirius . They did create chocolate which is a discovery surpassing all others in human history....full points for that! I mean how could we survive without chocolate? I agree with Whiskers that just because their calender ends then it doesn't mean that the world will end. Perhaps it is like a Y2K issue (if there ever was one) and that no one really thought about a post 2012 way back then. Still good to know I can dispense with Xmas dinner in 2012. I always like the idea that the whole planet and all on it are an interconnected living organism. It seems to gel with many indigenous spirituall beliefs as well (without overly romanticising). The sooner we can get away from our anthropocentric paradigm and embrace some collective sense of interconnectedness with Gaia, then maybe we will get there. But honestly, my theory is there but I would be lying to say that I feel a day to day sense of interconnectedness with our planet and everything within it. LakeGeneve
I think being the omega man would be freakin' AWESOME!First stop bike shop, next ferrari shop. Helicopter. Stealling those really crispy and moreish seeweed wafer biscuits from Villa. Wow the options are limitless! Not so sure about being Omega man in Bangkok. All that crispy food would go rancid quickly and your Ducati & ferrari rides would be spent dodging mangy soi dogs hunting in packs. (Although I guess no traffic jams and once you cleared the Chalong Rat/ Ram Inthra expressway you would have a great run home!) The klongs would overflow and bangkok would flood like the old days unless you operated all the gates. I guess you wouldn't have to queue for anything or deal with people jumping the queue.
