Chatty
I know there are many computer guru around TF. Hope someone can give me a good advice. I'm working on a pilot project about online stuff... Does anyone know if I can use Joomla (which run on PHP) run on ASP?? cuz my workplace use ASP only... I don't want to invest LMS (Learning Management System) add on Microsoft SharePoint cuz it's kinda expensive, I spent my company budget a lot last year... to buy HDV cam and editing equipments, I don't wanna ask for million baht to set up LMS from Microsoft. So I turn to OPEN SOURCE like Joomla for CMS (Content Management System). or Moodles for LMS. which can run on PHP. If it can't run on ASP, is there any solution? Thanks a million. I don't know anything about server. I'm pretty dumb about it. Yes I know how to use my laptop as a server, just install PHP appserv and mySQL. Not sure if it works if 3000 staff online in the same times (I know they won't) just in case if they do. So I'm searching for other solutions... cuz ppl here might think only about Microsoft. digitalcat
1. You cant ask that kind of question without the programmer knowing what you guys have already. 2. Most programmers will say the language they are most comfortable with is better. 3. As PJack said ask your IT guy.
Neo
It takes about 10 mins to install PHP on the server. ASP only runs on windows (unless you like pain), and PHP runs on windoze, linux, mac OS, sun, Unix .... If the IT guy can't install PHP on the server then its time to upgrade ... the IT guy! Chatty
OK as i said I install PHP and mySQL on my "personal laptop" If it that easy to install, what if I request another CPU and make it like a server which supperate from the main server? Can I do something like that? I know i should ask the IT guys but you know what my patience is limited. As I told ya they didn't give me choice. Only SharePoint, LMS add on.... almost a million baht. To compare with Joomla which is OpenSource... I can DL extentions for free such as Quiz, PhotoGallery

Only SharePoint, LMS add on.... almost a million baht. If it's only your stuff running on PHP then it would add no extra work load to the server (i.e. no more than using ASP on the same server). So you don't need another server for PHP. If this guy thinks it's better to spend a million baht than do a 10 minute install of a free program then he's a retard. Bruce551
Nueng, do you want to build a website for storing and watching videos on the internet? You considered a hosting service, not to expensive.
