locked up abroad

There is a show called 'locked up abroad' on the national geographic channel I sometimes catch. I honestly have no idea what's the point of it. Usually NG has a tendency to try and show the good sides of every culture or the very bad sides. Sometimes I wonder if they're trying to be like see we're better then them or something. This show is especially confusing on it's point. It shows westerners ...which on most of the episodes have been of some European country or another getting arrested in

how do they choose?

I still have no idea how the IOC picks it's host cities for Olympics and unless they make public how they decide and what paperwork is done we will never know. China's nomination for it baffled me then and even more so now! The pollution in China's major cities and this is not just Beijing is so horrible you can actually taste it! I'm serious you can taste the pollution. People when they go to eat at a resturant will use the first pot of hot tea to wash off the untencils and rinse their plates o

shaking up the science world

A recent discovery in texas is starting to shake up the entire science and religious communities beucase of a simple footprint! Seriously! A fossilized human footprint has been discovered in Texas limestone BUT what makes that so significant? It's fossilized UNDER a dinosaurs footprint! This would completely change and/or destroy everything science, creationist, and the give more affirmation to religions about the origins of man. Since it either completely destroys Darwin's theory of Evolution

honor?

I wrote previously about what some have done to gain, regain, and or keep their honor or familie's honor. The ironic thing about this is how twisted it can be. I'm referring to 'honor killings' which are committed by muslims. Spare me the arguments that not all muslims are like this because we know this. However you only need a large enough group and the laws in their country and enough people in other countries (including the US, Canada, Europe, etc) who committ these crimes to makes others sub

life's journeys.... balances?

Well I haven't been posting much lately because I've been busy with life here and work and one of my friend who just moved from BKK to be with her new husband in Spain introduced me to age of mythology lol, plus the normal stuff dating, hobbies, etc. I was having a debate with a family friend who is now collecting disability/pension from MTA (metropolitan transportation authority) who runs all the public transporation in the city. This was brought on because of a recent server move at work tha

vindicationn is awesome!!!!!!!

There is a show on MTV in the US called "a shot at love with Tila Tequila" and I didn't watch it much but I watched the finale tonight and it was great!!!!!!! The bi-sexual woman, Tila Tequila, looking for 'love' gets down to a guy and a girl and then after deciding on a girl.... gets rejected! This is not the great part that was kind of sad actually anytime anyone has their heart broken. Since being in an isolated situation as these 'reality' shows create can make things much more intense an

are they doing their jobs?

recently I was reading some reviews of the movie "Hancock" with Will Smith. Normally reviews are very much filled the persons opinions of various things and not often specific about things in the movie. This time I noticed a few getting very specific about the relationship between 2 characters in the movie. What I noticed was in the movie the relationship is explained is pretty specific details, but many critics seemed liked they watched the first half of the movie or maybe 15 minutes then th

6 situations that tell alot about your partner

something I got sent and thought was interesting. When you?re dating someone new, it?s natural to put your best foot forward. We put a little extra thought into our appearance, and let?s admit it: we also do our best to curb bad behavior. Suppressing the less attractive side of your personality only works for so long. Hey, we?re human. We get angry, irritated, hungry and tired; and when that happens, a different side of us emerges. And usually, it?s not pretty. This isn?t the spell of love

biodiesel a good idea?

Most people have heard of Biodiesel but do you really know what it is? Basically it's animal fats(aka lard) and other cooking oils and/ or plant oils usually mixed with Ethanol or some type or alchol deriative or even good old fashioned petroleum to mix fuel. Reducing use or fossil fuel and gas price and more environmentally friendly and depending on what you use your car can smell like McDonalds french fries all day! lol Sounds great right? In Theory it is.... application however..... Negates

crossing the line...

recently a friend of many years confided in me her husband has in fact been abusive to her physical and emotionally. If this was th US it would be asier to deal with as for guidance to turn to, numbers, emails, etc. Plus there is the asian mentality of male superiority and femlae subserveriance depsite many changing the stereotype. What makes it worse is she now has a daughter from him and she is not some village girl who married some retired farang. SHe has a master's and is successful owns a

death of a witness...

recently the man who did not stand by silently but instead tried to bear witness recently passed away to pancreatic cancer. I'm speaking of the man who told the stories of the killing fields (the term he coined) in Cambodia Dith Pran. What we know of the Khmer Rouge's atrocities is thanks to him. He suffered and fought to survive to tell the story of what was happening to the US, the world, and especially the UN. The UN which Ironically had recognised the Khmer Rouge as the government of cambo

I love you vs. I'm in love with you

This is something often easily confused in relationships between friends and even dating. I love you is so eaisly tossed around today. Just saying I love.... from WOW, "I love (input celeb name)" of course not meaning they actually have romantic feelings but admire their acting, humanitarian efforts, background, etc..... and to whole groups like "MAN I LOVE the (insert favorite sports team or teams)". Some of my friends weather asian or non-native english speaking European often get very confus

free speech alive?

The other day the Dutch Film "fitna" was released. I anxiously awaited the blow back from this since as usual free speech was the first thing to be hit with threats of violence and mass murder... not only aimed at the makers of the movie but also the country it's self and of course all non-muslims. Yet still nothing is mentioned of the hate filled rehtoric overflowing from mosques around the world. This is of course done by a small group but when no one points out both sides of a problem the p

like being spanked?.... blame your parents

This is what a new report says and no I'm not kidding. A recent study said children whose parents, slapped, spanked, hit or threw objects at them were more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior. LOL It's actually a pretty lengthy article but if you watch (or have watched) the comedic movie version of the book "exit to eden" you will understand why I see this as funny and kind of a duhhhhh type of thing like someone had to do research on this? It seems like if someone didn't do it to one at

the history of aritificial sweetners

I was wondering were the artifical sweetners came from and learned this..... First saccaharin commonly know as sweet n' low was actually discovered in 1880 by chemist who had accidentally gootten COAL TAR derivitive and got some on his hands! During dinner he licked some from his hands and tasted the extremely sweet taste and retracing his steps discovered that the COAL TAR deritive was to exaplain which later become saccharin. In the 70's it was linked to cancer but thos tests were disproven.

a guy had some money he needed to exchange, so he went to the currency exchange window at the local bank Short line. Just one guy in front of me...an Asian guy who was trying to exchange yen for dollars and he was a little irritated. He asked the teller, "Why it change?? Yestoday, I get two hunat dolla for yen. Today I get hunat eighty?? Why it change?" The teller shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations" . The Asian guy says, "Fluc you white people too!"

Now I've heard everything! lol

I have seen, read, done, and heard a lot of stuff in my middle of the road (age wise speaking) but a story that hit around and a friend sent to me and has even hit on the big services cnn, fox, etc is one that truly can only be done with 2 things in place ... the litigious nature of the US (yes it's a shameful part of our country and if you don't like it ... I'll sue hahaha kidding) and also only in california! The situation starts with a crazy law saying that someone can not be deprived of the

how to recognise a stroke

recently one my closest friends lost her mother because of a stroke which started simply with her collapsing and almost instantly regaining her compsure... this happened midday. At first it was thought maybe the heat but to be sure later on they went to the hospital but regular check in and not emergency and just to say she "passed out" and had felt light headed. She was dead by the morning. Another close friend had a stroke in his mid 20's but was luckily around trained people and suffered effe

semen not just for making babies anymore

I was reading through various tech mag's and science journals and one segment about upcoming technologies just made wonder ... WHY THE HELL WOULD SOMEONE EVEN THINK OF THIS??????? I A photonics expert at U of Cincinnati (his credentials we're not listed) figured out a way to get a 10-fold lift in brightness for Organic LED's. Honestly I have never seen something advertising it's an organic LED vs. non but anyway, how led's work is basically like this as I read. LED's create light as negative

http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=53177&juid=43398 Is the journal I'm referencing it's the last one I posted. I believe in free speech I had to block one person because of non-stop idiotic and obsessive rantings. It would be another thing if he had anything of value to contribute but no just insults so the same people I would have been interested to have samething of value to say instead have nothing to argue against facts instead throw insults o

Valentines is getting closer and it's one of the best and WORST holidays of the year! If you are recently singled it just reminds you of that and can make it even harder. If you are in love and with your partner it's an incredible especially in bkk where there is suddenly seas of pinks and reds of everykind of gift you can give. lol If you are apart from loved one you miss them just that much more as this is the day "for lovers" Some people are love sick, sick of love, and some well... jus

a beautiful weekend and scarry thought...

This weekend in Ny was realtively mild weather and I had a great time seeing "meet the spartans" and in general enjoying the weather. I hope veryone enjoyed their weekend also. My coworker won part of the football here at work which was and really made his day. lol I got to rub it in the NY Giant WON over the New England patriots.
