I arrived home yesterday after yet another fantastic time in Thailand and just want to say thanks to everyone i met, taxi drivers and tailors excluded.Travelled to Khanchanaburi (amazing and sooooooo relaxing), Hua Hin (felt very young), Ubon, Koh Lanta (long trip but worth it) and a couple of days in Phuket.Met up with a few TF members Giles & Mike thanks for the meal. Annie great party on Koh lanta, thanks. To Annie ,May x2, Kate, Pascal, Idar we made a good group for a bunch of strangers. Some points 1) Why are there so few rubbish bins everywhere? 2) Is it possible to have a shower in any hotel without flooding the bathroom? 3) Do ladyboys moan about men leaving the toilet seat up or are they just as guilty? 4) What are the tissues on restaurant tables for, they do nothing 5) There seem to be a high number of deaf people in Thailand. 6) Why dos some pain in the ass ask if u want a taxi and then expect a tip when there is 100 of them in front of u? 7) For little people, how do you mange to get in the way so much. Give me rush hour on London underground any day compared to BTS. 8) Are there actually any Thai tailors left? Great fun, great place.love u all (except taxi drivers and tailors)

I dont want to say anything bad about Ubon, not fair to base it on my experience.

The hotel was shocking, by far worst i have used in Thailand. 1st time i have managed to check in without being spoken to or even acknowledge.

I did not really find anywhere to go or so. Guess expected something like Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai. Not too commercial but easy to get around.

have been told by Giles (ThePunisher) that its one of the nicest places in thailand.

My suggestion to anyone is do some pre planning and dont be a lazy arse like me.

Haa, I can help you on point number 4. ;) The little tissues have been (maybe still are) also pink, there is a reason for that too. "Reason"...Got this book called "Very Thai" ;) "For Thai needs, the size is ideal. You discard it the moment it's dirtied. Aside from dabbing mouths, blotting spills and coping with chilli's effects on eyes and nose, Thais use tissues for cleaning the cutlery and crockery." And it continues on, and pink is an issua of money: white one is pleached, hence more expensive and so on and so on...;) This is interesting big book on trying to explain and explore Thai popular culture everyday things...:-)

[] few rubbish bins - because people dont use a bin really, see how dirty the floor was? :P

[] shower without flooding the bathroom? - Yes, if you use the Shower stall (door closed, of coz) :P

[] tissues on the tables is just like Westeners that have a napkin in their lap.. dabble at the lips. We use small tissue paper to "clean" lips, fingers, table, or dust off the spoon/folk/. We can get it dirty as the purpose is to use 1 piece at one time, that's why it comes in small pieces, in color as pink is the cheapest recycling way. Sometimes you find a roll of "toilet" tissue paper on the dining table (low-cost restaurant), dont be surprised : )

[] Taxi? happens to many countries in S.E.A ;)

[] I tell you what.. what I am experiencing now is much worse than BTS in Thailand :Q

[] Thai tailors can still be found... not located at the heart of tourist area tho
