nothing wrong with the 2 pic.

it has been around a long time, and should never be taken away from the public eye....as a reminder.........

as for the artists idea, it is interesting how he came up with that concept !

not a bad piece of work !

I read a book about Kim Phuc 2 months ago while I was actually in Cambodia ( the book there was too cheap ) . Anyway the Thai Artist done a great job on this one ... They both look scary in a different way ....

bc42us ... I'm laughing my ass off over your posts ... Somehow it would be nice if the guy would really sued BJ .... But it doesn't make any sense , does it ?

Manit's photo is interesting, creative and well done, and I think his point is clear. However, I think he could have made the point in a different way, because on a certain level what he's done is quite demeaning to Kim Phuc and the others in the original photograph, the people of Viet Nam and perhaps even to photographer Nick Ut. Perhaps uintentionally so, but it is nonetheless.

Very true the piece of art does push the boundries, moments in time have to be questioned, and points need to be made, I think it does this very well.

The more I look at Manits photo, the more it changes, very well shot indeed, but it was wrong of me to post the photo of Kim Phuc below, it detracts a lot away from the power and meaning of Manits piece and also like Lobert says is very demeaning to her, though without the 2nd photo many people on here would not ''get it''

I saw the last pic in my Student book ... we were shocked when we saw it ... and our teather asked us to express our emotion about this pic ( unfortunately I don't remember the topic of that lesson )

I think people are getting too struck by Hu's photo to think about what the artists are trying to put across in their art work, they ARE NOT trying to mock Kim Phuc and the other people withing the photo they are mearly asking questions. Look at it!

clever.........sure it is based on the 1968 pic.....what is says is that "chaos" is now the norm in sociiety......materialistic, lacking values...bla bla. A clever and intriguing piece of work.

I own the original Banksy painting of Kim Phuc, and its always been hung in my house, but since seeing Manits version, I think I'd like to get a copy of that as well.

Wow - interesting discussion here about this well published and known photo from 1968. No suprise opinions go different directions. Art is a) free and B) always subject to interpretation. What i can see is - many commonalities. Wars are still on and one might well be able to take the orginal photo similarily still in Iraq, Afghanistan or Somaila (... and all the other many, restless places ...). Where war with weapons is not - there is still economic wars going on. And this almost everywhere ... More sophisticated may be - but carving deep scarfs into effected souls as well.
