After putting the immigration officer in the hospital , after  the officer attacked  me, today was my court day.*The police officer changed his mind and said if I countercharged, the case would not be over, and I couldn't leave Thailand*He promised me that although I had to be fingerprinted, he would make sure my fingerprints wouldn't be sent out to wherever they keep the official records. He would erase everything (It helped because we had pulled in high ranking officers from other areas in my defence)* He said "Plead guilty", and don't even mention I was attacked first.*Those a "Famous last words"heard in North America before they slam the door on your prison cell , and throw away the key!!!I had to put a lot of trust in him to believe that!*I took a chance, and did what he said.*And he did way more than he promised! He drove me to court on his day off work today, phoned ahead and made a deal with the prosecutor. At court he went into the prosecutors office  in private, and continued to talk.In court, there wasn't even a judge! All people charged with crimes, walk to the front of the court room, and talk to a judge on a TV set!!!! Unreal!!!!*My turn was up.Do you plead guilty?Yes. Do you accept the charge ?Yes. We are sorry but we have to charge you  a fine.Pay 1,500 baht, and you are free to go.*It is over ! finished..."Set leow!" * I was under no obligation but I went back and apologized to to the whole department of immigration for my behaviour, and they saw I wasn't speaking "empty words"  I meant it from my heart. They accepted my apology.*I fly out tomorrow, and I will walk though the airport quiet as a mouse, and as tame as a pussycat.*What a life!!!  Honest to god, I could write a book on all the stuff that has happened to me in my life!...maybe even 2 books. And most of the time, I was to blame for all the problems...*Live and learn.Try not to repeat the same mistake twice and expect different results!*Today I just learned another lesson .And best of all, I learned a Thai cop took care of me!  and didn't ask for one baht! (noer would accept one when we tried to slip it into his pocket after court)*I could have easily been "minced meat"It is over now...thank god......

Randy, what can I say?

I am glad you were set free.

Big risk trusting a Cop, but you must have have had an instinct, that you could.

In this case things turned out.

Do yourself a favour, Don't do that again.

Never do it in Indonesia, you'll end up doing a Life Sentence.

PS:- Are you sure that "Trouble" is not you middle name?Ha Ha I only ask because it seems to follow you, like a bad smell. Check you mail.

I've been nearly there once. Tried to slap a brown boy in Pattaya after he nearly drove his van into my bike. I was lucky with an older police officer that told me that: "This is Thailand, you are a guest here because we good people." He took his dog with him and they left. The other guy was still pissed, but guess his boss knew how much of an idiot he's been and leashed him back. I was as mad as hell, but after that I realized I was lucky with the older guy.

Hey Randy,

You should have called me! If the judge can be on TV, maybe your personal lawyer can be on TV too...

Seriously, asian societies have a very special relationship with the law. Very different from North America, something to be avoided rather than used for every little incidents. But I guess you know that by now. Happy to learn you're still in one piece and ready to leave for indonesia...
