I'm afraid I agree with him. There is no sane reason for any man to propose or any woman to accept for that matter unless one of the above is true (or, for some vague reason,you "want to have kids"). Women mostly marry to have kids or grab a provider before the effects of gravity take over...or for money. Minus the female biological clock, given a stable career and take away the emotional "I'm lonely" bubble and I don't see why any woman would run after a guy for marriage either.

This is possibly one reason why the natural opiates produced by the human body tend to wear off about 5 years after people ?fall in love?. You will notice that I use the term fall in love with parenthesis. That it because love in itself requires a form of illusion, some type of cognitive alchemy in which we are receiving so much stimulus from a single individual that we mistakenly think that such feeling cannot be created with anyone else. By having a union with another human being, under these auspices we clearly show delusion, fear, and an ego that distinctly cries out a permanent shout of, ?love me please, save me?. It is a vanity born of youth when we first learned that if we complain and act helpless someone will respond to our needs. It keeps us forever immature, egotistical, self-centered, and so completely removed from the real meaning of love that our ship will probably be lost forever.
