I'm moving into a new house in a couple of weeks. I will run my business from there too.

There are 3 existing lines in the house, all on TOT.

I need all three for.... 1 x phone, 1 x fax, 1 x hi speed internet.

Can anyone help me to know who is the best and most reliable in Thailand for internet and phones?

I really appreciate the help.

I have True, It seems like the most stable and consistant. I have some friends that hate True to death, as many of us have had bad support or bad connections with them in the past, but I find it still is the most reliable.

Well...this is from me..

True isn't that great........I'm so ready to throw it out of the window at any moment. But it has been a decent one so far esp. when I threten it that I would change to another company then it behaves much better.

Thanks Nave... but that is precisely the situation I DONT want to be in. I already have to compromise and complain with Thai banks (useless) etc. Sometimes I wonder if they think I work for them, rather than they work for me!!! I really dont want to have to keep pushing and complaining about my ISP as well. Anyway, Im shooting for the best, but it seems it might be a 'Hobsen's choice' - pick the best of the a bad bunch.

Thanks 4uandme... will check that link.

very mixed feelings about the TOT "high speed." it was fine at first but has been slow lately.

considering what i'm paying i'm thinking of cutting back on the alleged speed. why pay for speed i'm not getting?

also, they are double-billing me at the moment. if this continues i will eventually tell 'em to piss off and get my internet from the apartment building.

it's funny how much people like whining about internet connections. i've been out of thailand for almost 3 years but when i lived there true adsl was ok. i now come to thailand every 2-3 months and when i go to some friends i use their internet. true seems to be still ok.

...although i remember the good old days when i was using dial-up... soooooo much fun those days :)

Ive been thinking about this for a while as I need internet for work. I wondered if it would even be possible for me to work in BKK with such slow upload speeds.

However this site seemed to suggest some fairly quick broadband companies were available in BKK but none mentioned so far in this journal.

When I look at other regions in Thailand the site lists True and TOT (TOT speed is always listed as faster so maybe that answers your question!)

Take a look see if you recognize any of the companies listed for BKK. The BB broadband co ltd seems to be the fastest, does anyone use this?

I have TOT at home now and although I am away, Grezzzy usually says it is OK, but we do get outages every now and then. I had True at my old place in Minburi and it was OK as well.

Regarding support services, True were, for me, very good. When I initially connected in Minburi, I was at the end of a long cable run at the far end of the moo bahn from the road, and carrier level was a bit low. They sent out two guys with proper test equipment and resolved the issue (I did not have filters on all the phones connected to the line). There is a technical reason for this that I will not bore you with, but it is necessary and I had forgotten to put them in place. The guys were very helpful and when they realised that I am an engineer, they were happy to try the various different tests that I asked for.

TOT in Sukhumvit has been OK, but I have not dealt with their support people as it has only been necessary when both Grezzzy and I were at home, so she called them.(I just asked her about it and she said they are a bit slow to make repairs, and it drops the line occassionaly during the night).

Another colleague is completely happy with his True connection down in On Nut, and yet another mate of mine in Wacharaporn syas True are very good.

By the way, as NoMuchTime pointed out, the phone and the ADSL carrier work over the same line, so you don't need a separate line for the high speed internet, in fact they probably will simply patch it to the phone circuit you use for the main line unless you ask them otherwise.

The comments about overseas internet reminds me of trying to get an internet connection in Brisbane last year...bloody useless, and extremely expensive...Bigpond are a waste of space and as for free WiFi in shopping centres or pubs etc...most didnt have a clue what I was even talking about, let alone actually providing it...!%0

Now that you've gotten every recommendation for and against the three or four main options out there (and therefore ZERO help as a result) why don't you try this simple alternative if it is available to you: walk into several local internet kiosks (four or five should be enough) and ask them what they are using and the respective customer service numbers. After all, these are businesses whose income DEPENDS on a consistent internet connection and that appears to be what you need as well. Then have your Thai liason make the discovery calls to the provider(s) most often mentioned for you. Better: take the liason to the kiosks with you.

You may find you will need to pay extra for the higher end lines that don't go down. That seems to be the case for everything in Thailand. "You get what you pay for" seems to have greater significance there than elsewhere.

You stated this is for your business. I doubt the majority here care about a connection that rarely goes down; they may be more concerned about the cheaper price as opposed to line reliability; if "line reliability" exists there. All they need to do is re-boot and re-log on. You argue your business can't afford that inconsistency. You're asking the wrong people.
