The smelly car salesman
So........ I'm looking to change my car as it's clocked up plenty 'o miles and it's 8 years old, time for a change.
I arranged a test drive at a large "car supermarket" yesterday, I met up with the salesman and he showed me the car... so far so good, everything looked fine on the outside and inside, I was genuinley interested. Then came the time for a test drive, the salesman joined me for a drive and sat in the passenger seat. A few minutes into the test drive I started to smell some seriously bad smell ...... "is it the car?" I thought, it can't be, I told myself, the car seemed fine in the showroom. It's the salesman! It's BO!!!!
After the agonising test drive we get back to the dealership, before we discuss details of the car I am shown a demo car that has been treated with a paint protection, I'm thinking to myself that I can't stand being near this guy anymore, I am then asked to join him inside the demo car to view a hands free phone car kit - yay more quality time with smelly (you're killing me here guy).
We then discuss the car, I don't know, maybe I was put off by the overall experience, I liked the car but the experience was spoiled mostly by the smelly car salesman and the lack of negotiation skills of the salesman. I declined to purchase, and the salesman got up and walked away, he looked pissed off.
It's something that I find hard to understand, people that are public facing, especially car salesmen that accompany you in a confined space like a car that don't take any pride in their appearance or personal hygiene. Moral of the story: cost of a shower, soap and deodorant: approx £5
Cost of losing a car deal for being lazy and offensively smelly: £13k
Set Rant = off
