CiaranM - You only have to sit a bit longer, it will be crowded ;o) These were taken from the far end of the beach and it's usually crowded on the other side.

Dave40 - Local beach operators keep the beach very clean that's what I like about Patong but the beach chairs are over-numbered, they block the beach and leave narrow space for a walk.

I know it's a nice place i go for many years bud now i see to many tourists.

Last year i was go for viste old friend friends some places are change.

Next time i go stay only in the north whit my gf

Tony is right there's much much better beaches out there... Patong is basically just the "Fun Zone" overpriced, commercialized and over run by Aussie's who act like punks (including the wimminz)

Wow! very good pics and good informations for me! I plans to go to Phuket with my husband next month and he really would love to go to Patong to have a look but when we look in the websites. It doesn't really have so many pictures for us to see! I see your pics to day, it makes me feel that it really worth to go to Patong kha Thankyou for sharing!

Pluggy => Where is Karon Beach? Does is far from Laguna? because we going to stay in Banyantree Hotel in Laguna and I heard Patong is not too far to hire a car to go there. So that's why we want to go Patong to see tourist attraction area for Phuket

julianiramon - If you have facebook you can add me in your friend list. I've put many nice pictures from Phuket. Karon Beach is only 10 minutes away from Patong Beach, more quiet and peaceful, and less touristy compare to Patong. Since you stay on Bangtao Beach and that beach is governed by those hotels in Laguna complex, going to Patong or Karon beach to see some other areas. Laguna complex is quite clusters to laguna hotels' guests only. In Patong there is a big shopping center so you can enjoy shopping as well.

By the way, coming from Banyan Tree Phuket takes about 45 minutes by car. I'm sure the hotel can offer a limousine service. It's one of the most luxurious hotels in Phuket. I hope you stay in Pool Villas ;o)

I went to Patong during new year and was impressed.... I really fall in love with Patong beach ^^

I like Patong. : D The beach itself is not too dangerous to swim.

my friend just went to phuket and said he was disappointed with patong and phuket...many "working girls" and old men on the beach. maybe he was there at the wrong time then he moved to another beach. but after his trip to similan...i think he liked it more now.

Patong still is a perfect place for shopping, having a good cocktail at some sophisticated places, good restaurants, good night life.

Of course the beach aint perfect, but what for do they rent motorbikes ? The best beaches are north of Patong, such as Surin, Laem Singh, Nai Thorn and those are a 25 - 40 minute ride from Patong.

@cherryberry - yeah, right, go and kill all old men and women above 50 years of age in order to keep Thailand nice and clean...
