I had my 1st backpack trip to Samui. It was a long journey. As I had limit budget so train and bus were my option.

Great and worst experiences.

-Travel alone as a woman is not too scary as someone else think.

-It is not comfortable to sleep next to a stranger especially it is a very long trip.

-Dimsum for breakfast is nice.

-You can not trust a black fat dog.

-When it (heavy) rains, electricity may be off in Samui.

-The doctor can give you a treatment eventhough there is no electricity.

-Thai Southern accent is not too difficult to understand.

-In Samui, cocktail is 150 baht the same price as in Bangkok.

-My not so good English skill is useful. I could help people by translating.

-Using toilet on Ferry is not easy. (It is not Flush Toilet.)

-Friends are everywhere.

-Running on the beach while it is raining. It is so tired.

-When it is strom, Ferry may stop service. If you need to get out of Samui, calling to Ferry Office for information is not a good option.

ETC.

Awesome, thanks for sharing :) I did my first ever solo trip in Feb last year, and there's no turning back; I love it and will probably be doing it more soon. Hence I am always keen to hear more from solo female travellers, to share tips on keeping safe while still having fun. Looking forward to more such blogs from you :)

I was there last December Koh Samui was my last stop after Koh Tao and Koh Pangan. Very bad weather I wont go to beach anymore during December (lol I should know growing up in an island) but that's the only official Holiday I can have without work bugging me.

The rain was pouring like endless it made me feel really desperate inside my room alone! I finished reading a book within the period least expected.

@Yanyan, I travel by myself most of the time. The only thing that bothers me much is carrying my own luggage but there are good people out there that will always offer a help. :P

@bigkus - กราบงามๆที่แวะมาค่ะ

@funky_house - You seemd right.

@ Japamerican - It was an accident situation. The worst part of this trip.

@Yanyan - For my 2nd solo backpack trip is Pai. But it is just a plan.

@Querida - It seemed I was in the same situation as yours!

* * At (Surat Thani) pier. On a sunday,there were 2 Russian girls who could speak english a little bit. Their purse was stolen. The total money they had was about 1,000 baht. They were in trouble to get back to Bangkok. And if the weather was not so bad, things might be easier.

Finally they got help from these people.

-A middle age Thai lady.

-Staff at pier.

-A Thai male who works at a restaurant at Samui. He thought these ladies visited the restaurant.

-Bus driver and hostess. * *

Funny blog! electricity in Samui is a joke, all the big hotels have their own huge generators on-site. When all goes quiet with no power, these things start up and sounds like a racetrack in Chaweng

I did my first solo in BKK, after my freinds went north to Issan. Had to get used to public transportation, as in California, we ll have cars and seldom, if ever, do we use public transportation. Knowing where to go and how to get there was non the less quite a challenge for this old guy, but after getting lost and rereouting several times, I got the hang of it. My hats off to you for your adventure as a single girl. Sounds like an exciting trip!!
