12Call / AIS SMS Spam

Fortunately when I came back to Thailand my old 12Call mobile number was still active and I just popped in my SIM and was ready to go. I needed to get an internet package on the line so they didn't rape me on the access charges so I went to Telewiz in Emporium and paid 380 baht for 1GB of data and was on my way.

Shortly after activating the internet package I started getting tons and tons of SMS spam from 12Call. Every 10 or 20 minutes I was getting a new SMS in Thai offering me some sort of special or promotion. It quickly became annoying.

If you happen to get caught in the same situation here's what you can do:

1. Go to a Telewiz shop and ask them to stop the messages.

2. Use their automated support. Dial 1175 and after a few "Press X for English" options you'll get to a menu that offers canceling SMS advertising. Pick that, confirm, and supposedly within 7 days all messages will stop and you'll receive a final SMS telling you that all advertising has been halted.

Thanks a lot! Was very helpful! Just one more question: About two or three times a day, my phone asks me if I allow the SIM card to send SMS. Of course, I always deny. So any suggestions how to permanently tell this friggin SIM card that I don't want it to send anything to anyone once it is not done by me personally?
