Chatty
I have trouble of sleeping lately, I think since I moved from home to the aprt. in town, I couldn't sleep well, sometimes I awake all night. I look like a super zombie. It surprised me sometimes after I went out for flood relief activities, I worked hard out there. I should get deep sleep at night but no. How can I fix it? I look like a super zombie. It surprised me sometimes after I went out for flood relief activities, I worked hard out there. I should get deep sleep at night but no. How can I fix it? It's tough especially with everything going on with the floods. To be honest, I think you need to stop following the floods so much. I appreciate you as a great resource for what is going on regarding the floods, but it seems like you are constantly worrying about it at least 10 times more than anyone else I know. Not that it's something that you should forget about, but there is a limit of stress that you can put into something like this before it starts hurting you. I know the news can be exciting and you feel a dire need to follow it as much as you can, but you should try not following it for 24 hours. See if you can do it, seriously. If something serious occurs you'll get a phonecall, but most likely it will be the same situation 24 hours from now. I say this because it was eating at me and really stressing me out early on. There was nothing I could do about my house, and the news constantly made me feel like my house was going to be underwater within 24-48 hours. It's still not flooded today. Even if it did get flooded, there's nothing I can really do about it...I know your situation is different given the fact that you have your parents to worry about, but do you really need to stay up to date with the "chaos," death and destruction? Try to find comfort in the fact that whatever happens happens...There isn't much you can do about it except for being prepared. Beyond that, you'll just start losing sleep. English_Bob
Yes... all that he said. But I occasionally suffer from sleep problems. Half a Valium is like a reset button for me. I get a full night's sleep and wake up feeling great.
FarangFarang
I agree with Rob. I think you need to quit worrying about the flooding. What will happen will happen and unless you are Super Girl and can go and stop the floods yourself or dry up the flooded areas with some sort of super powers then there isn't much good in worrying about it as much as you do. I remember when I was in high school and I was playing football (American football, the real football). We had a game on Friday night and the weather forecast was for heavy rain on Friday night. During practice that week someone asked the coach, "Hey coach, what happens if it rains Friday night?" He responded, "Don't worry about things you can't control. You just focus on playing great. The rest is up to god." And it's true. You can't stop the floods. All you can do is be prepared and take whatever actions to avoid personal harm and property damage. If you've done that, everything else is up to god (or random chance, or whatever, depending on your personal beliefs). It's tough especially with everything going on with the floods. To be honest, I think you need to stop following the floods so much. beej
I used to have huge trouble sleeping.... I tried sleeping pills.... and all I can say is DONT do Xanex or Valium, though Ambien was good, and slightly less addictive! Smoking weed was good too..... For some reason now, after many years of insomnia I can sleep really well.... no idea why!

Dekka
"INSOMNIA." Well I have certainly experienced(that's an understatement)Insomnia, due to the drug I am taking. I have suffered with Depression for over 35 years. The drug prescribed for my depression,is a drug called Efexor-XR. Whilst this drug has helped me to some extent it hasn't cured me. Like all drugs you have to weigh up the risks associated in taking that drug, against the benefits. In other words you have to balance the positive aspects versus the negatives.Getting back on track(insomnia) The side effects of this drug are many & one is a standout,in my regard, that is Insomnia. My pattern over the last 10 years is as follows:- I cannot & do not sleep for 3 whole days & then on the fourth day I might manage at most 4hrs sleep or less. It certainly isn't doing me any favours health wise. These past 10 years i have been weaning myself off this drug, i have gone from maxium dose of 300mgs a day to just 37.5 mg a day. In another 18 months to 2 years i will be completely free of that cursed drug. I got a got a great deal of sound advice & personal help from a great man i met on this site in 2006.We hit it off straight away,we were like kindred brothers. This man was known as Vacanti373(Randy) a very popular figure on Thailandfriends. I am greatly indebted to him,I will never ever forget this wonderful human being.Sadly Randy passed away while in Indonesia,he missed & loved Thailand so much,in fact i think that was the cause of his demise, i think he died of a "Broken Heart." Knowing Randy changed my life & in his passing he changed my life once more. Randy is always & will always will be in my thoughts & Prayers. In away I was saddend by his death, but also i was joyful in the respect that he is out of pain & nothing or no-one can ever hurt him again. Rest in Heavenly Peace Randy my friend. Nothing more to add except," The Song is over but the Melody lingers on." God bless you Randy, looking forward to the day when we will be reunited once more.
