robbie36
Anyone got one yet? Really want to know how good it is. Personally I am a PS2 fan and am planning to upgrade to the PS3 when it comes out next year. But I am interested to know whether anyone really thinks the new XBox is good enough to convert PS2 owners. (Incidentally fake psp games are now available for Bt200/game in Bangkok.) zeusbheld
on paper, one advantage to waiting for ps3 is that the ps3 will play bluray disks (high definition dvds). xbox 360 does not. a small high def tv costs around 32,000 (sony 17") and a decent hi def projector costs about US$1,000 plus $200 for a screen in new york. (i havent seen any good prices here, singapore or HK may be an option).
robbie36
Prices for flat screen TVs are falling like a stone here. Just got a couple of 22 inch LCD TVs for Bt29,900 each. The new Sony Bravias are Bt80,000 for a 32 inch and Bt120,000 for a Bt40 inch LCD TV. Some 42 inch plasmas now selling for as low as Bt74,000. Incidentally I dont buy shoes. Isnt Blueray one of those silly Sony-only formats that everyone else is going to ignore?
zeusbheld
there are two hi def dvd formats, bluray and one other.i forget the name of the other, it's basically modified regular dvds (thus initially, it will be cheap to manufacture as it wont require retooling of the dvd factories). it's not a pure sony format, although sony is part of the group. in other words, it aint beta. bluray disks hold a LOT more and are better than the other format, but the other format may be cheaper initially. interestingly some tech prognosticators are saying that bluray has an edge because ps3 will be the first affordable (under US$1000) hi def dvd player. also, bluray dvdrs are likely to penetrate the computer market eventually because their storage capacity dwarfs the other format. and if bluray dies as a movie format, in spite of its superiority, you didnt pay extra for the player. WiCKeDBiRD
Incidentally I dont buy shoes. Incidentally, I dont buy big screen telly. zeusbheld
for projectors, i'm either going to get a sanyo or a panasonic. for regular CRT tvs, i still like the sony vega. for professional monitors in video editing suites, you'll find they're almost always sony. for consumers, people buy the biggest, cheapest tv they can and arent terribly finicky about picture quality. samsung and panasonic both make decent tvs. looking at big c, tesco lotus and the empty tv boxes in the dumpster at my building, i'd say samsung is probably the best seller in thailand. although the careful big c observer will note that sony prices are competitive these days (survival, i'd imagine). WiCKeDBiRD
PPS. errrr Have I mentioned .. I just got a new "Boeing 787" .... yet ?? < for those ppl who mind my business fro too much ... oh its not from my Sugar Dada.. its from my Gik > i have nothing to add to xbox, i dont play game at least you have something to say I play all xbox - ps2 - dreamcast - gamecube; honestly not see really the different much. perhaps the only matter for me is what game is it .. not console actually, i do play some games but  easy ones, like tanks, bomberman, mario, and harvest moon (i dont like technology) i find 3d and fancy graphic games very confusing and frustrating, no need to mention how complicated those buttons on the pad are, i already have trouble operating dvd remote controllers grrr.... ... I do like "Packman" ... I have it downloaded into my Notebook.... cute ... eh? P' WB PS. I personally hate PS2, too complicated, my Sugar Dada spends too much time with it.. for days at times. John
Have both GameCube and PS2.. not really Xbox fan. But the 360 got me thinking. Revolution (Nintendo) and PS3, both coming next year.. is it worth the wait?
Lilguyy72
360 is the TRUTH son!! Got one upon release and can't stop playing Call to Duty 2..it's eating into my Halo 2 online time. The fact of the matter is that if you love games like me you'll have to have ALL consoles (handhelds too) and a pimped out rig like mine!
neillyperrfekt
its another case of which console has the best graphics. Personally, I always went for nintendo as it has the best games. Always fun to play. I was going to buy an X-box 360, but im not wiolling to waste £389 for it, by the time PS3 comes out they will drop the price by at least £50. I remember buying the 1st playstation for nearly £300 abnd then the price dropping to £200 2 months later. Saying that, I bought a 37" HD tv a couple of months ago and having HD games could help me see the potential of the TV. :?
