Sells for over 30 million GBP on a 4 year contract.Seems quite a risk for a guy pushing 30. But when you got a club owner with bottomless pockets and a manager who acts a bit like an Arab housewife in Harrods....then i guess money isnt an issue.

This deal interestingly enough comes at a time when for the first time ever, wages in the Premiership have finally started coming down.

Good result for AC Milan.

I'm so disappointed :( I thought Schevchenko was a real club man, not a mercenary...

And why did he have to join the team I hate most???

Anyway I bet he will finish as top scorer of the premier league next year...

good chance, a more open style of play than that italian pack-the-box-and-lob-a-counterattack ****. catenaccio? is that what it's called or is that a tim o'brien novel? anyway.

what i read was that it wasnt the money (ac milan are not poor, remember they were the chelsk of the early 90s) but he's got an american hussy on his arm and she's not fond of speaking italian.

you'd think the threat of british food would be enough to keep 'em in italy, but shevchenko grew up eating russian food, not like he can tell the difference...

I would hope he invests his first weeks wage on a rather large cork or zipper for the American Hussie's mouth, or just get her bumped off!

english is not his mother tongue, he can just tune her out.

for example, my gf's mother (chinese-thai) and i get along GREAT--coz i dont know a goddamn thing she's saying and we just sit and drink coffee. probably it's like that, she blabs, he just sits and drinks coffee, and smiles at the right times...

About Quarter of a million Russians live in London and the south-east.You can always tell if theres one at the petrol station forecourt as the pump alternates between car and mouth. But hey, lest we forget, Shevchenko's Ukrainian and you can get ready made Chicken Kievs at Tescos. He'll be happy as Larry.

I guess i'm in a minority ... I think what Chelski are doing is great. They're building a superteam the way Milan, Juventus, Madrid and even Barcelona did. Remember Chelsea were't even as good as Barca this year despite all the money they spent...so they go out and make the team better. Good on them!

Oh btw, I support Glasgow Rangers who tried the same thing on a much less graniose scale and nearly went to the wall. It helps to have the money to buy a team but it is the manager who moulds them into a unit. Without that you'll win nothing.

I'm with you RKID........Hey, and Ballack came for free so they must be doing something right to attract a player of his caliber.....nobody talks about that.

Jealousy is an ugly thing, and the ManU, Liverpool, and Arsenals of the world can't handle the new kid on the block passing them by in his new Ferrari.

Seems they forget about all the money they have thrown around over the years.

Thanks for the fresh perspective....and from a Rangers fan. lol!

gotta agree....it IS professional sports! not "lets all play fair and nice" sports. Until the league caps the salaries, chelsie is free to spend whatever they like. More power to em....next year....the triple!

ballack came for free ... u gotta be f**king kidding, they reckon he's now the highest football player in britain and probably the world.

and to compare the money manu, liverpool and arsenal have spent with chelsea is bollocks. just look at chelsea's losses over the last few years. if they were a business rather than a russian crooks plaything they'd be in receivership by now !!

and u can't know much about chelsea if u didn't know that they have long established links with the huns !!

Who bought an Air Force One as personal plane does not care too much about players' fees...And they say that crime does not pay!

whoever said crime doesn't pay had their head up their ass. it's getting caught that doesn't pay, just ask mr kenny boy lay and jeff skilling.

PS include me in that number who are very much enjoying watching chelsk build a superteam,. this coming from an ajax fan (ajax = farm team for the teams with *real* money).

How funny will it be if they still don't win the Champions League after spending all this bank?

to drag an old cliche howling from the vaults: that's why they play the games.

while i daresay it owuld not be unprecedented in sports, i do think they are improving on a team that has been knocking on the door of the CL last couple years, so we'll see what happens.

i think the premiership needs a salary cap, but let's have chelsk have their go at the cup with big ears first.

Ahhhhh....you're a funny guy!

Ballack came on a free transfer, he could have gone just about anywhere but chose Chelsea!

Thats what "came for free" means....of course he gets a top salary, he's one of the best players in the world. IMO. Both Bayern and Milan offered as much money in salary as CFC did to get Ballack and Sheva to stay at their respective clubs.

Can't argue with the money comments and yes what CFC are spending exponentially passes the other EPL bigs spending in the past. Hence the passed them by in the Ferrari comment. Ugly losses on the balance sheet will have to be addressed in the future, this can't go on forever.

I'm a decendant of the huns and we are really wondering how you found out about the Chelsea connection.....they'll be an investigation....don't worry, it will be done by FIFA.
