But the second in the group as to face Portugal. Not so easy to play against. Argintina has enough playing a draw, but to avoid playing to Portugal The Netherlands will try to win and leaving space to the Argentins ( :?: ). But the Dutch defense tend to be the weakest point of their team and with a team as Argentina that scores easy, I go for Argentina. zeusbheld Posted June 21, 2006 Report Share Posted June 21, 2006 although the careful observer will note that since they've been tossing people for diving, there's been a LOT less floppin' going on (anyone remember '94???). can't see oz makiing final 4. and don't misunderestimate germany, they're at home, talented, and very fit, although i agree with brucie that this could be the year that a south american team wins in urop. i'll do my final four after the group round (can't do the arithmetic on who can actually face who sorry, laaazy) but i'd expect there's a good chance that argentina will be there down the stretch, and we haven't seen the best from brazil yet neither. and over my decades of loving/hating holland i've seen many squads with more talent but this one bickers less than any i've seen, which could turn out to be meaningful... But I don't think they will make it to beat Italy, although they r not playing that good.) Ghana - United States ======> 2 - 1 (US has a good organized team, but against a sprankling Ghana they won't make it.) Japan - Brazil =========> 1 - 4 easy win for Brazil. Croatia - Australia =======> 2 - 0 (Croatia has a good team, although not as good as before, but still a lot of players have the experience playing in European competitions everywhere. They have to make a difference of more than 2 goals against Togo, not impossible. And in that case Switserland against South-Korea must be a draw. If one of both teams wins and France wins too, France is still second in the group. In that case it will face Spain (how is nearly certain to be leader in their group) in the 1/8 final. If France is the leader it has to play against Ukraine, I suppose. So, Bruce, Spain will not meet France in the last 16, unless Spain is leader in his group and France second in his group.. And stop whining about USA being cheated by the referee. It was a doubtful penalty (but one referee will give it, another not). If u know that u have to win to have any chance to go through u don't play with one man in front and a defense player, reyna (???) before a defense of four. My prediction for 23-06: Togo - France: 0 - 4 (they know they will have to knock, but with players as Trezeguet, Henry Thierry, Makelele, Barthez, Thuram it's possible. A good mix of experience and players on their top). Switzerland - South-Korea: 2 - 2 (I keep it to a draw to save my QF-prediction . It could also be a win for 1 of the teams with 1 goal of difference?)
