Punish,

Sure, i go here and there with my bike, havent been on any longer trips yet tho. I might go with the guys in Motozone on a trip to Chiang Mai in dec, that would be nice i guess.

I stay not that far from BKK normally, like a day trip to Pattaya, Ayuthaya, Khao Yai etc. My CBR1000 is in the shop at the moment, but i'll let u know as soon as i get it, then we could ride somewhere.

Stay in touch,

Tom

Yo,

Is there any other bikers in TF? With a bike in BKK? Or am I the only one...?

I mean sportbikes, not Harley.

Cheers,

Tom

Come on Simon, don't be so hard on our queen of hell.

But even i know what ur talking about i still wonder what a 'sportbike' is

I know that a bicycle has to do with sport, but a bike with motor...?? 8)

ok, i would rate it top of chess, but behind playing piano

O.O.O: Havent seen u in Q since that time u were crawling half naked under the tables, and escorted off the premises....lol...anyhow.... We have a bike trip coming up, Bkk-Chiang mai, for the bikeweek there. U joining??

I dont know about the CM-Phuket trip. Sounds like a loooong trip...

A sportsMOTORbike, thats a motorbike with lots of plastic covering the engine etc, as opposed to lets say a HD. We need speed, "they" just want to look mean/bad therefore no plastic there.

I can go on and on why a sportsbike or a sportstourer is "better" than a HD, but thats not really something we wanna go into here...ha.

A sport bike is a sports bike ie a sports bike as apposed to a non sports bike are you taking notes?

Opposed

Can't you run off and find a thread on remembering how to spell or something?

I stand corrected... you are pissy and annoying.

For pointing out that (wonder of wonders) YOU are not perfect either?!!!

The indignity of it all!

  • 4 weeks later...

I imported my second KTM from Singapore this year.. Busy riding it around on a red ''dealer plate'' still waiting for the rego and the proper plate.. Took 9 Months for my last bike and almost a year for the Honda I had before that. never been pulled by the cops for having a red plate.. but furthest I've been is Trat, Koh Chang, Rayong and upto Bang Saen and Chonburi. Never any bother around Pattaya. The dealer I used bought the bike in and paid the taxes and is chasing the rego. Everything takes time here but works out eventually. I've ordered a fair amount of bike parts from UK and Germany and always received them.. Only had to pay duty once on 600 euros worth of stuff worked out at around 30% tax. Usual story here you have to forget what you could buy something for in Farang land.. If you want one here enough you have to pay the the price.. Only good news is I have always sold my bikes for more than I paid.. Once you get a Thai rego and plate the value of the bike goes up.. All the rules and paperwork don't seem to stop wealthy Thais buying Ducati's, BMW's and the latest jap sports bikes..most things are posible, even if a little frustrating and time consuming... Its either that or look like a **** on a 110cc scooter thats 3 sizes to small for me... oh the problems of being 193cm tall... :)

Regarding bringing in bike from overseas, i wouldnt do it... As said earlier, its a nightmare. I read some good inputs about it on www.gt-riders or www.gt-rider.com, they have a nice forum there with all kinds of juicy gossip on shops, crooks, crimes etc.

A big site for second hand cheaper bikes is mocyc.com, only in thai but loads of bikes there. Only a few registered tho.

Got my bike from motozone.com, really happy so far, have talked to a few other customers too. Like the owner there said, "so far we havent had one unhappy customer." To me its worth the extra $$ when getting the bike from a shop like mz, then u know your bike is 100% legal, not stolen in jap or with fake book etc. My previous bike, an R1 was totally fake (but cheap), got it from a dodgy shop in bkk.

Btw u bikers, join the 2 yahoo groups for bikers in th, "bkkriders" for those who like to cruise around in first gear,.. and "thaisuperbike" for us speedfreaks. C u.
