Feeling hungry?

You know how it is; you're starving, far from home with a steaming, squidgy-looking bowl of alien entrails in front of you and the locals are all happily looking on just waiting to see what you make of it.

You've tried the easy stuff - Shark in Queensland, Crocodile in the Karoo, Sheep eyes in Morrocco, even Haggis ...

What was your most unusual meal, and did you manage to finish it?!

I think the most unusual thing I ate was Rat, it looked like mince and tasted spicy, the thought of eating it was numbed after a few beers and I was feeling brave but it wasn't until I walked around the house to see them skinned and skewered 'Holy Sh*t'...followed by snake frog, mites.......oh well back to mc sh*t

while working in Suai, East Timor, the first restaurant in town opened up. the cafe Uh Terus, referred to as the cafe Uterus. one day i went in for lunch and had the fried morning glory, noodles and the mystery meat of the day.

when i went to pay the girl wrote on the bill: veg, noodles and DAG. i asked what DAG was, she was at a loss to explain. i then asked if it was "asu". she nodded happily.

"asu" is dog in Tetun.

so yes, i ate dog..... and it was pretty damn good

i am never shy about food, in some countries some dishes may look gross but if millions eat and like it i think it can not be to bad.

Aside from that gross burger i once ate a raw snail, can not recall the taste as i was biting quickly to stop the movement...

I tried sun dried grasshoppers, they taste similar as the sun dried fish rubbed with salt.

Would not eat cats... coz i keep them as my pets but no problem with cute bunnies. i did ate dog fat when i was a kit, disgusting taste as it was without seasonings but it was meant as medical treatment.

I heard dog meat supposed to taste really good if you like wild meat.

I am a huge meat lover, love it wild and bloody.

before i left germany we had Hot Pot (thats some chinese dish, similar to MK)

we had crocodile, kangaroo, ostrich, deer, lamb and small snails.

Boiled crocodile meat was disgusting, its most probably not meant for soups. The meat is chewy and makes you think of beef but the taste is fishy so get the impression that it is broken.

Tried Frog once, taste somewhat like chicken.. i am not fond of things that taste like chicken, makes eating them pointless IMO.

I once ate Conch penis. "yes there is a joke there".

When I was in the Bahamas, I was taken to what was supposed to be the best place to eat Conch. For those that don't know what it is, it is a very large type of sea snail. About a foot long as I remember.

One of the guys insisted I ate what looked like a long, transparent knitting needle, giving me the universal sign that it was good for getting it up.

You know the one. Clasping the forearm of one arm in the joint of the other in a quick movement :-)

Slightly crunchy and tasteless. No big deal. But the thought that always stayed with me was the eyes of those things. Looked like E.T. staring at you, because they cut them up alive.
