While I was walking on the skytrain walk to take the BTS at Chidlom station, I saw an old woman in a wheel chair, she cames with her friends (old like her)

They tried to go up stairs... there were 4-5 steps, I couldn't remember. but the old (big) woman on the wheel chair was hard to take her up to the stairs.. think about it. Her friends tried to help this woman but they couldn't do.

There were 5-6 men there just stared at them but did nothing. I wasn't sure what those guys were thinking. I couldn't believe !!! Gosh!! They just stood and watched what was gonna happened.

so, I reached my hands to the woman and carried her up stairs...

Where are you gentlemen?

probably watching /distracted with the eye candy walking around the BTS walkway. so why are all elevators in BTS and Subway not used for people with disabilities? security of course. it is a security breach.

I'm not sure if Chidlom station has it. Anyway, I saw her asked the BTS security guard already, he said "no elevator here"

sorry I was not there; I spend every day hours on the BTS but I missed this opportunity :D

And what will you do? sit and watch?

oops, I forgot I posted without asking I_love_som_tam to check it first... may be bad grammar again..

your grammar is one of the best :D

I am allways the first to help people into the songteow ( sorry I live on Onnut :P ) and the first to give my seat on the BtS to monks, children, pregnant woman ( even if she is not pregnant from me J/K) and elderly people!

Talking about giving the seat on BTS or BUS...

I had the experience

When I was a kid, I studied in primary school. After school I took bus to home. Someone saw me wear student uniform so she gave me her seat... BUT BUT BUT a guy he wore soldier uniform took that seat. He was very fast. I can remember that day very well.

I think if there were a really nice looking girl standing next to te old lady.

some of the guys would be playing gentlemen.

it is hard to be nice but nice to be hard.

Yes!!! I have seen that before... They are gentlemen only with the good looking girls

Unfortunately, I'm quite an ugly person....

So it's hard to find gentlemen around

You must work out alot to carry that lady up the stairs!? 555

Where was the security guard!???? Its his DUTY (Yes I checked this out) to assist disabled people up the stairs!

I feel sorry for any disabled person in Thailand because there is no strong government policy relating to disabled access. I think its a real shame that a fairly new project such as the BTS has NO wheelchair access! (Only 3 locations I believe), its sad to know that there are many poorer people who have very limited lives because of transport and access issues such as these.

On a good note: The Council of Disabled People of Thailand and the Association of the Physically Handicapped of Thailand offer FREE wheelchairs and/OR tricycles (Call 02-9510445 or 02-990-0331). But honestly I don't know where they can go to! The roads and footpaths are for off-road vehicles only and access to many buildings limited.

Also Srinakharinwirot University recently started renovation of its entire university to accomodate disabled students. Great to see.

But again, these are individual organisations: The government needs to be making laws, particluarly in areas of public transport and buildings.

I didn't mean in the physical sense I meant in the verbal sense.

Haven't you ever seen a couple arguing in the supermarket and the guy is looking all embarrased because the woman is relaying the whole argument to the supermarket?

"No I will not shut the hell up!!!!"

"I said I dont like frosted cereal steve"

Oh yeah, that game. Thats a doozee that one.

Can't win the fight (about something totally unrelated that happened weeks ago) ...so... lets raise the voice and get public sympathy. And you know that as soon as you open your mouth then, you're gonna look like **** anyway.

My ex-wife was a brilliant player. She was particularly deft at going public while we were having dinner with our parents.

"So, have you told your Mother about... ?" she would slip in. And all hell would break loose.

Giving up one's seat on the Skytrain to a needier person is one thing. Being expected to carry wheelchair bound people up the stairs is quite another. That's expecting a bit too much from strangers, if you ask me.

Or you wanna see she crawl up? I can't see something like that... it break my heart.

This is a question to BTS authority - why they are not put elevators to stations. As I remember, many stations do not have elevators. And do not have any supportings for disabled people. The BTS is a fresh construction, they may think a little about people with disabilities.

Feeling a pain about every person will ruin your heart. Think about hundreds of Isarn girls, who work in the bars to support their families. Totally ruined young souls.
