RECOMMENDATION PLEASE - I NEED A DENTIST!

i just read shamu's journal about getting eye surgery and it reminded me how important a good recommendation from a relaible source is when getting medical treatment.

as with anywhere, in thailand there is good and bad medical service at many different prices.

some are value - some are definately not.

the best i've had here was a week spent in the government hospital in krabi - just 10,000baht for a week of great treatment and 2 operations to fix my busted arm. my worst experience was in bamrungrad - they tried to get me to come in for 4 hours to have a 100,000baht operation i didn't need!

anyway, what i DO NEED is a GOOD dentist in bkk.

fear has kept me out of the dentists chair for 17 years and pain is forcing me back ...

i need a LOT of work.... new fillings, replacement filling, caps, etc etc...

any recommendations and experiences gratefully received either here as PM/testis on my page.

i don't want cheap - i want GOOD treatment.

thx in advance of any help

(like shamu, i'll make a journal of the story as it goes on so others can benefit too....)

Course the Thais get a bigger discount.

Mate, roadside dental treatments the future.

Bloke on Sukhumvit, corner of soi 4 can whip you up a set of dentures from kwai bone in a half hour, and you can get a bevvy opposite while you wait and take the marrow home in a doggy bag for the missus.

Win win sitch.

nice one - i take it you mean the police box yeah? i'm well acquainted with those c**ts and their ability to rearrange teeth....

I liked several dentists here.

Asavanant Dental Clinic : Dental Clinic in Bangkok, Thailand

58/5 Sukhumvit 55 Bangkok 10110

Thailand

By Thai standards they are not cheap. I thought that the dentists were very good. They spoke English. There are quite a few of them there. It has been about 4 years since I was there. I think that they have expanded. I also heard good things about the Dental Hospital that Nikki recommended.

17 years! !! I?m glad that I?m not a Dentist.

Try BKK Dental hospital on Thonglor. I did the "teeth whitening" treatment last March. They have all price info. on the internet, you can be sure that Thai and Farang are paying the same Bth.

thank you very much - i will check them out.

Actually, I meant the dentist who operates next to the police box.

Whichever, you can have a bevvy while you wait.

And don't take no notice of the coppers. They're just thieves and gangsters in police suits.

About as worthy of your respect as Mugabe is.

"to protect and serve" (themselves)

has there been a forum dedicated to anecdotes about the local filth on here?

Seconded! Many of my farang friends use Asavanant and the reports are all good. One of the guys I know in NZ decided to detour via Bangkok during some recent business trips to China so he could get some crown work done at Asavanant after we recommended the place, and he was very pleased with both the result, and the bill.

Personally I just got some work done by a dentist here in Hong Kong - he is a gwei-lo from NZ - very good - but only if you happen to be up this way soon...and of course much more expensive than at home in Thailand!

A few years ago I chipped a tooth while in Thailand, So I went to the local dentist in the middle of no where (where I was was). Made an appointment on the spot, took my shoes off and put these jandals on (3 sizes too small) which they found very amusing , went and sat in the chair, there were 2 assistants and the dentist,

Anyway the treatment took about 1 hour, so then i go to pay the bill.

I was expecting 2-3000 baht just as a figure, 400 baht it cost!, couldn't believe it.......too cheap I thought, back home I would have paid 10 times the amount. :o

I think the best thing to do is get a referral. I've done really well going that route. Just a tip. Hospitals do NOT always provide the best dental services.

lol it's just my experience...

well, may be or may be not.

but just avoid public hospital.

Should avoid your hospital too !!! LOL

Mai Mai Mai....

They did really good job for me... at least I like my dentist did with my wisdom teeth...

Actually, I went to clinic outside... but I came back to my hospital again... may be it's about trust.
