Jet Lag

When traveling across a number of time zones, the body clock will be out of sync with the destination time, as it experiences daylight and darkness contrary to the rhythms to which it has grown accustomed: the body's natural pattern is upset, as the rhythms that dictate times for eating, sleeping, hormone regulation and body temperature variations no longer correspond to the environment nor to each other in some cases. To the degree that the body cannot immediately realign these rhythms, it is jet lagged."

..I have never had it before, but i am experiencing it now.

....I haven't been able to sleep properly and I have lost all motivation...pulling me into a slow depression and groggy 'Zombie' like state...

..I'm taking vitamins and drinking water...but this is the 3rd day...and I'm still extraordinarily tired and my body aches....I couldn't go back to work today because my head is too cloudy...

...simple decisions turn into complex quadratic equations and I'm really slow

...Has anybody ever experienced this for a period of more than 2 days? I always thought it was only a short condition..

...Does anybody have a good natural remedy, or any herbal medicine that will shake the 'zombie' out of me?

..not coffee

Thanks,

Hold on.....

A recent study in hamsters showed that sildenafil (known commercially as Viagra) aided in a 50% faster recovery from shifts comparable to eastward travel experienced by humans and was effective starting at low doses.[3] However, this use has not been tested in humans and is considered an off-label use by the drug's manufacturers.

....I need a hamster and some viagra

...then what do I do?

When I make the flight from Thailand to Canada (or vice versa), I don't sleep at all until I get to the destination country. When it's time to sleep there, I sleep. Feels like hell, but I'm usually good to go within 2 days. No clue on what to do once you have jetlag though...

..I always thought that people who complained about jet lag were just being lazy...

...but this has actually made me quite depressed and it really is not a nice experience

....I will have symapthy for people with jet lag in the future

Two days??!! It takes me almost three weeks before my sleep patterns are back to normal.

BTW. Melatonin is supposed to help reduce jetlag recovery time.
