PATTAYA: -- A disturbing incident occurred on Walking Street in the early hours of Sunday Morning which was initially dealt with by the Tourist Police based on the street. Three men from Estonia made a complaint at the Tourist Police Mobile Unit regarding a confrontation with three Thai Men in Soi 15. It is thought the men were being ushered into a Show Bar but decided at the last minute that they did not want to go.

The Thai men became angry and a fight ensued. The men were told to make their way to Pattaya Police Station to make a report, however they decided to take matters into their own hands and went back to confront the Thai men. It is thought that more than 15 men set-upon the three Estonian Men.

One managed to run away, a second was hit over the head with a steal pole and a third man was stabbed in the leg with a broken bottle. A major artery in his leg was severed and he was rushed to Hospital. Later on Sunday he died from the injury according to medical staff at the Pattaya Memorial Hospital.

The incident, which is now a murder investigation, occurred only meters away from the Tourist Police Unit and is now being investigated by Pattaya Police and the Tourist Police as the hunt for the attackers continues. We understand that as of Monday Afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the attack.

Whilst somebody loosing his life is never something pleasant or something to be joyous about, if the above is correct and these Estonians were about to 'take matters into their own hands', and lets face it they weren't about to embark on a jolly deep-philosophical discussion explaining those touts the errors of their ways, then it would appear that Darwinism has prevailed once again. This might sound harsh, especially to the family and friends of the man killed, but if they were trying to escalate a minor situation being guests in a foreign country than that shows clearly not just some severe lack of judgement but utterly stupidity.

This is however is in no way an excuse to take a broken bottle to the man or whacking the other chap with a steel pole over the head.

Another unfortunate event fueled by alcohol and lack of communication between cultures....

....Poor and greedy Thai touts 1 - Drunken needlessly violent Europeans looking for a fight 0.

Most Thai men are cowards. They will generally not fight unless they have an overwhelming advantage. Welcome to the Land of Tourist Killers. (Hey, maybe there's a new slogan for the Tourism Authority of Thailand: "Thailand - A Destination to Die For".) Sad.

I'll bet the 3 Eastern Europeans were drunk as skunks. I've seen the way they drink. Soon all common sense, control and "thinking before acting" tends to go by the wayside. One could use the recent drunken teens taunting the S.F. Zoo tiger as an analogy. The tiger only acts on instinct. The difference, of course, is this time the Thai attackers were supposed to be thinking human beings themselves. It turns out they only *biologically* resemble decent people but appear to act like savage animals instead. Other human similarities end there.

When a place is devoid of most/all morals and adds liberal doses of alcohol and then more alcohol, you get a Pattaya. Is it any wonder drunken dumb asses are dying on a daily basis there; either at their own hands or at the hands of others?

The biggest joke is when stupid, drunken farang expects Thai "law enforcement" to step in and administer fair justice. In their drunken haze they've forgotten the "law" is only enforced on farang especially when mitigating Thai versus farang disputes. They are amazed to discover they are now in deeper **** engaging the corrupt police. After all, the police have got to eat to. That perpetual smile has got to come from someplace.

Quote Nelis: "The number of people dying there of unnatural causes is shocking....."

Not that shocking given the stupidity level seems to be directly proportional to consumed alcoholic content. This goes both for farang and Thai there......

most thai men are cowards?

well, I think twice before I pick a fight with a guy who is twice my size. I would probably do it a lot more if I was 165 cm not 190cm. Feels more like common sense when something as inane as a verbal insult is the topic

Thanks P Jack for the info.

It's very sad to hear that another farang here has been murdered (for nothing).

My heart goes out to his family, friends and loved ones. May he R.I.P.

As for those of you complaining about the misplaced smily face......get a life!

They have nothing better to do with their lives, than pick little faults in peoples journals here on TF.

Sabai_Jay took the words straight out of my mouth.

Peace out.
