Lucky

2 days ago I found my lovely cat, lucky in a rubbish pile near my house. I think he was murdered, he had a broken neck. I'm having some trouble coming to terms with his death.

He lead a rather tragic life. He lost his 2 brothers, one dissapeared and the other was press-ganged and is now a member of a militant organisation. Lucky was abandoned when he was a kitten, probably because of his deformed leg, he was accutely paranoid, and had a genuine and chronic fear of water.

Lucky in happier times - after the leg and tail amputation but before the other horrible stuff.

Lucky was born with a deformity that resulted in him having to have a leg amputated. He made a full recovery and we lived together and tried to put it behind us. Another series of unfortunate events lead to Lucky loosing his tail. Alway's the survivor, Lucky recovered well. Shortly afterwards, Lucky was attacked by another, larger, stronger cat and was badly scratched and cut. He got lost for 24 hrs and when I finally found him his wounds had become infected. After a few weeks and a trip to the vet lucky started to feel better, his fur had started to grow back and again, we put it behind us.2344422233_83d200a05f.jpg

Lucky and me hanging out at my friends house in Klong Haeng

About a month later, lucky came to greet me as I pulled into my road on my motorbike. he wasn't looking his usual self. I took him to the vet to be examined. The vet told me he had a virus and would most probably die as he was having difficulty eating and drinking. I told the vet to do whatever he needs to, but I was sure Lucky would pull through. A week later, Lucky came home and after a couple of weeks was putting on weight and was starting to look much healthier. His confidence had grown enormously and he seemed happier than he'd been in a long time. 2344422207_64dd1a0793.jpg

Lucky giving the eye to a girl cat that lives near my friend.

Fast forward a very happy few weeks and I find lucky, in a pile of rubbish, his head twisted around with blood in his eyes, ears and nose.

I have some good friends in Krabi - but he was the best.

I really feel for you mate. This would have hurt me no end. Hard to justify or reason or rationalise it.

Chin up dude.

'Lucky' was very lucky to have you for that period of time. Dont forget that.

sad to hear of lucky and your lost..........it sounds cruel, but some person just killed him or thought he was suffering too much and ended his misery?

but only one thing, because of his handicaps, why was he left out of the house to fend for himself, when you said he was attacked by maybe bigger and tougher cats? i would have thought to keep him inside the house until you came home after work or whatever? that is a question for you..........

That is indeed a question. I have a cat-flap. Lucky was able to come and go as he pleased so he wasn't left out of the house all day. I don't think a cat can be kept inside a house all day anyway, they are far too independant. If I kept him in the house all day and let him out of the house when I came back from work the same situation could have arisen, except then it would have been dark.

it seems logical in a sense.......but to have lucky as a ktten, and he was deformed, and all the sike problems to go along with it, i would have kept him inside, and then walk him at night for fresh air and the exercise......i mean letting him have his own freedom, and having to go up against the brawlers and strong cats to fight and pick on him, it wasn't fair to him.........it's like sending in a kid with one leg or arm missing into the ring with tyson, at his prime.......i mean it would just be a slaughter with no chance in hell the kid would win.......that's my point.........and again i'm so sorry to hear about lucky......rip...........

:(

sometimes i get paranoid about letting my 'beloved one' out. But it is HER life and i should give her the freedom of living it. You shouldnt be upset that Lucky had the chance to his freedom. He will remain forever in your memory but your life will go on. Sorry to hear. It's such a tragic.

maybe lucky thought he still had 9 lives, and tried to make a long jump......or maybe he knew it was his own time to end his tough life and go to pet haven...........:-) still sad about this........
