I posted this journal yesterday from my computer at the office. The pictures I posted didn't show up but I did everything that I use to do before... lol so weirds. Last journal I talked about Siam Niramit on Friday night. The show was over at 9.30 pm. arrived home around 11 pm. The next day, Saturday I had to work under strong sunshine... almost die when I got home. However, I made promise with Andy that we will go to see Grand Palace on Sunday. Well, I was tired to death but I keep my words.I checked taxi price at the hotel to Grand Palace (Emerald Buddha, Wat Prakaew) the cost was 500 baht. So crazy. We better take a taxi from Sukhumvit road. I heard the same word again after I told taxi "Pai Wat Prakaew kha" Taxi driver said "Aww, kon thai ror?" and then he turned meter on cuz I keep eyes on him and his license + taxi number (it's important for the passengers), cost us 80 baht.At the entrance of Wat Prakaew, I heard same sentence over and over again "Need tour guide?" "Do you wanna take a tour?" and I had same answer over and over again "No, thanks, I will take him tour by myself" in very clear Thai language. The guide said "Aww Kon Thai Ror??" ok I'm not surprise.Anyway, for foreigners have to buy tickets 250 baht and you can keep the ticket to see Vimanmaek Mansion in 7 days.I think there were a thousand tourists at that time, About 10 Thai people there included me and some tour guides.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketAt the Grand Palace.PhotobucketThen we took a trail for tour around Ratanakosin Island, 30 baht / person.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketAfter the tour, we enjoy the food at some restaurant near Ta Chang (Chang Pier)PhotobucketWe took a taxi to Museum of Siam. (I didn't wanna walk) about 40 baht for taxi.... and taxi driver didn't know where it is... sure! it's new in town. Actually, old building of Ministry of Commerce, next to Wat Poh. This place is so cool. If you like new trend of Museum... this the best in town. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketBig screen cinema.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketThen we took a taxi to Ananta Samakhon Throne Hall, to see Arts of the Kingdom.Again taxi driver told me that I looked like Japanese. He almost charge me 200 baht and not turn meter on... ´ÙÃѹ He said I must be careful cuz of my look!! Back to the subject... going to Ananta Samakhon Throne Hall, you have to wear skirt and shirt or T-shirt which has sleeves if not you must buy a sheet of fabric 40 baht to get in. I can tell you, it's worth in. I'm so sorry in there not allow to take pics. Ticket 150 baht... one price. Really, beautiful. It was my first time to get inside the throne... stunning so beautiful, mixed Europe and Thai style. ÊÇÂÃÑè¡æ ÃÅѧ¡ÒÃ Amazing.PhotobucketPhotobucketAndy and I really enjoy our day trip in BKK. but sored feet it's another story. We got to the hotel and grabbed K-bub to eat... Yummy?Photobucket

Beautiful pictures and nice commentary.

I went to the Grand Palace one day and [sort of] fell for the scam....

One tout said it was closed, I ignored him and after about two more I finally left.

But I did NOT take the tuk tuk to whatever scam they wanted to take me to.

I WALKED away - they couldn't believe it!

Well it's good I did because I discovered a neat neigborhood where there were numerous shops making home products from wood: doors, furniture.... the freshly cut and turned wood smelled wonderful. I wish I could have stuffed one of those beautifully carved doors into my carry on bag back to New York!

Then nearby I found the Golden Mount Temple and enjoyed that for free.

I read later about the "Palace is closed today scam" but I didn't feel bad because nobody got my money (I'll talk about State Tower another day) and I ended up finding some other treasures of Thai culture.

So the ticket for the Anantra Samakom is no longer available with the ticket to the Grand Palace?

Normally, they'd have the tickets to enter all of the three places together, since you can walk through the Vimanmek Mansion to the Anantra Samakom. O_O

Great photos and thanks for introducing me to the new museum. ^_^
