I went there in June. Sure, it is expensive, but seeing as where it is situated, (63rd floor of the Lebua State Tower), the view, the food, the service etc., that is to be expected. I have seen reviews from people saying that the food wasn't that great, but I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Take your camera!!

it was quite a let down for me, it wasnt as grand or unique as they promoted themself to be.

Banyan tree is better for a roof top atmosphere.... but the food was a bit standard for their price.

OoO.. I have tried both, but I have to say, the view at least is far far better from State tower.

I know that is only a part of the whole experience. Also, sometimes at Vertigo the atmosphere has been a bit...dead, for the want of a better word. Just my view. No pun intended :-)

REALLY?? i thought sirocco was too 'cafeteria' for me! The tables and chairs were like... poor budget. The food i thought was so-so.... the only thing i like out of sirocco was the live singer.

banyan tree ... on the other hand.... was also below what i expected...

All in all, out of 10.. id give sirocco a 5/10 but banyan tree a 5/10 too... ha ha ha... So i guess to me they are compatable.... But i wouldnt recommend ppl to go to any of them....sadly.

nzguy, it depends on WHY u wanna go. if you just want a roof top - bangkok view experience...then sure.... but if youre looking for good food,... its a no-no................... Otherwise why dont u pop there for a couple of drinks one night to see how u like it?

I've been to Sirocco, the view is great, I'd say that's the (only) major attraction for the resaurant. The food wasn't stunning and the service was not what I expected for the prices that they charge. A starter can set you back around 500 baht and a main about 1300 baht, a meal for two should be around 6000 baht.

I heard that Vertigo is better, maybe someone can comment on Vertigo?

You also have the option of Bed Supper Club which is a different dining experience and cheaper too.

sure ur [friend/gf/wife] will probably like the view and ur company..but 'personally'.. F&B at other hotels (same price range) is far much better. Enjoy ur time tho, if u go.

Go and have your dinner with your girlfriend in Baan Khanitha, (69 South Sathorn Rd.) and after that head for a drink only in the rooftop bar of the Vertigo restaurant/ Banyan Tree Hotel (21/100 South Sathorn Rd.) Its a 6 minute walk, if you dont mind the smelling garbage cans on the sidewalk...

I have been to both Sirocco and Vertigo. it can never be too expensive for your darling girl. :"p Anyhow, It's not necessary to spend that much. Check out V9 at Sofitel Hotel, Silom. View from 37th floor, if you're a big fan of wine, it's the right place for a couple to chill out. Besides, it's not too expensive. I would say 3k for 2 for a full course. If you don't like wine from their list, you can get your desired one from their shop and it's free corkage! Wherever you decide to take her, it's not the matter of the quality of food and beverage but time with your love one. Enjoy!

I have been to both many times. The food at Sirocco sucks, but at Vertigo it's pretty good -- as befits a five-star hotel (over-priced though).

My suggestion:

Go to Sirocco exactly at 18:00 when it opens. Have a cocktail or two at the bar and watch the amazing sunset. At this time it's not too crowded. Then go and eat somewhere else.

Another point about Sirocco AND vertigo:

The menu is quite heavy on beef, lamb and there are no spicy dishes. A lot of Thai women don't eat beef or lamb and/or want some spice on their food. So actually the menu may not be to their taste

Even Baan Kannitha, I have to tell you, is aimed at preparing Thai food for foreigner's tastes. You won't find many Thais saying it is their favorite restaurant

Agree with a person above, F&B at other hotel is much better, in the same price rate. as i work in this field, i can say, most of the whole F&B team from Sirocco are already move out and start a new Fine Dinning Restaurant at the same concept in some other spot. but u never know till u be there, i suggest you to try and tell us what do u think about it ;)
