my sketch book Some people keep diaries of the days events, the more up to date will blog and I like to sketch. I travel 50-80% of each month so where the PSP's novelty has worn off and the airport purchased biographies and best sellers have been discarded, my sketch book continues to provide me with endless hours of entertainment.I'm not a serious artist as you'll see and I'm certainly not talented enough to 'sketch life and scenery' every time I get the pencils out. I tend to draw from my imagination which I guess is why 99% of my sketches are cartoons.

'Doh!'this was an experiement to use a thick black permenant marker pen as a different drawing implement. The result was that the ink soaked through the next 4 pages of the sketch book, completely wrecking the other sketches...hence Doh!

Here are some attempts at "Grown Up Art" (non cartoons). Since moving, my neighbour is an avid artist and at 72 years 'young', he sits on his balcony and paints the same scene every day. The boring aspect aside of painting the same scene daily he's actually an incredible painter and has decided to teach me about colour. For anyone who doesn't really know, sketching is the easy part. The ability to apply colour is the tough part. I'm still at the sketch it and colour it in phase which is still challenging for me as I was the dumbass at school who could never keep the colours within the border lines!!

'around town'...did you notice how the blue of the dome's roof spilt over the edge so a disastrous attempt to rescue it and put in a blue sky now looks like it's on fire!!!3022092784_480f8018a5.jpg?v=0

'which garden?'some grass and trees, didn't look anything like the scenery I was attempting to capture hence...'which garden...(is this)?'3022092706_6d90807471.jpg?v=0

'flower'I wish I could name this after the actual species but as you've guessed...it no longer resembles the flower which was the subject...Doh!3021260531_197f11a5f5.jpg?v=0

'once were lillies'this was one of my favourite sketches...once upon a time, a long time ago before my oh so wise 72 year young neighbour encouraged me to "add colour to bring it to life". The heavy handed loading of layer upon layer of hues from my new (read as haven't got a clue how to use) water colour pencils covered all the fine detail and depth, so these non descript flowers, 'once were lillies' 3021260461_4a4c4eb4b4.jpg?v=0...no need to be concerned, I won't be giving up the day job just yet...

They are very good - some people have no talent for freehand creativity at all - like me for example (Greer)...my only creativity these days is in the rather mechanical looking drawings of television station systems...eeeergh! Boring to most people (just about everyone)...I know ... hehe!

Curious Andie - me too? 555

Karnie - thanks ;)

Dianna - not too impressive, but I'll let you off as you're on a high with that countdown clock ticking until the big V arrives :)

Nave - there are no columns in 'which garden' ...see what I mean, people can't even see I was drawing a tree :)

Bware - still think you've got an eye for GREAT TASTE!!! ;)

Chatrarat - we're now waiting for your Gallery of Oil Paintings...c'mon!!!

Greer - thanks for the comments, freehand drawing is easy, technical drawings require precision and disciplin...hence why I freehand :)

Prue - hey Sis, you didn't know?? What sort of crappy sister are you??? I want a refund!!! 555

Dr Sassy - you're only picking the 'once were lillies' to be controversial...wouldn't expect anything less from a creative person though :)

Wimo - fat face?? hehehe Good choice, it's the happiest pic :) You've seen my attempts at drawing portraits - stop trying to get me in trouble!! 555
