German man arrested for allegedly set fire to public phone booths

The Nation Mar 9, 2009

Police have arrested a 64-year-old German man for having allegedly set fire to 11 telephone booths and three bus stops in Thonglor area.

Metropolitan Police commissioner Pol Lt Gen Worapong Chiewpreecha held a press conference Monday to announce the arrest of Heutsch Dieter Beckers.

Worapong said Beckers burned the phone booths and bus stops late March 3 and early March 4.

He said footages from security cameras of the city administration and Krung Thai Bank on Soi Sukhumvit 49 showed that Beckers was the suspect.

Beckers told police that he set the fire to the phone booths after he failed to get changes from the phone.

He said he entered Thailand on October 5 2007 and stayed in Pattaya until he was broke after a Thai woman took all of his money.

He said he became a homeless person living in Bangkok.

He said he set fire to the three bus stops after other homeless people would not allow him to sleep there.

There is a place where lose your mind is ideal?? ;)

I would like to be able to think that the woman who took all is money and left him without a home is a black hearted human being, but in fact I can not.

If one person behave himself like an idiot and exposes himself to the risk of lose all his money while he lives abroad he can blame nobody but himself...

Was that really taken from The Nation? The way it's written strikes me as rather amateurish.

Have to love his logic. If setting fire to everything that gives you a problem was really the answer, why didn't he burn off the organ that lead him to Pattaya in the first place, depriving his brain of the blood it clearly needed to work properly.

He must not have any close family or friends abroad that could send him a one way ticket back to Germany where he could start from go again with a bath and a job.
