I was going to send my research paper to an international journal and found the journal named "Educational research" say "UK spelling....."

I know it is a journal in UK but other journal in UK ("Educational Review " and "Innovations in Education and Teaching International") don't mention this .

1) Should I email others two Journal asked them if they also want 'UK spelling' ?(not sure if i can ask them , seem british-american english is very serious topic after i read a forum here)

2) "Educational research" is one of journals on my university's list.if I leave it I will lose a chance to get publish.I have no choice.I will rewrite my whole research paper.

3)I also need American english version as if one of those three journals don't accept my paper I can send it to "American Journal of Education " which on my university's list also.

and each journal need 3-6 months for 'peer review' if just only one or two say no it will take me 1-2 semesters more to get my degree.....

rewriting research paper,we need 1-2 native speakers (who are in the same field-computer/graphic/education).it mean that I have to find 4 native professors (2 english,2 american)to help me on that... so sad

anyway, I will not give up..... saying something here to my JN always make me feel better and can back to work....

Well, if you are going to use a language, better to do it as God intended. After all, there is only one mother tongue.

Fay, it does say 'preferred' rather than compulsory...However, if they are UK based journals, they will probably want UK English over American English. And remember, while they may accept the American usage, your article has to be peer reviewed before publication, and those reviewers may mark negatively for American usage.

Fay we (yanks) are just happy if someone urderstands --us! But those professors can be a bit detailed and stiff. they are still serving up an education at my old school (Un.of North Carolina at Chael Hill)

No, leave out the old queen (Victoria, that is). She was German anyway. As a guy born in the UK with Irish/American parents (damn GI's!), I appreciate the bond that unites us. But, North Carolina? Surely very correct English there anyway?

pls , leave the topic , who is better,or origin english. it is not good for our friendships. languages are in that way, I did not speak thai lin the same way my grandfather did . only dead language would not change. laos speak so much alike thai but we never say thing to them , if u talk of each others ( british - american) that way , what about my thai style english ?. we should be happy that we can communicate still ,nothing more, you all my good friends don't be serious about languages ,we talk by heart

I worked for an American firm for 32 years and it turned out after I'd been with them for 10 years that before they sent US executives to the UK they gave them a crash course in what they called "English English" and we over on our side of the Atlantic called "Real English". But they never gave courses in American English to British executives going over to the States

BTW Danno - "Flexable" isn't English on EITHER side of the Atlantic - do you mean "flexible"??

Hey, don't worry about. The slang at street level might be a bit different, but for academic writing there isn't much difference. Just install both British and American dictionaries in Word and have a version checked with each.

Neutron: yes that was what the way I did ... what about structure and the way we use words or make senstenses .... ? still the same??

In formal writing, not enough differences to worry about
