Yesterday I received a good news! My visa application is approved. Yay!!!! I guess it's much easier to apply for the visa without the help from my bf. Everything was ready within 7 days, with no interviews. Just submitting the paperworks and the next thing I knew, I got an sms to go collect my passport with a six-month visa!!It was a great day yesterday, but it will be a much better next week. Will post an update later after the deed is done!  ^_^

Shannon, if as I suspect, this is a UK "Fiancee visa" it is, as you say for 6 months during which time you will not be allowed to work in the UK. The immigration authorities will expect you to be married by the time it expires and to apply for a "Marriage visa" under which you can look for work. That lasts for two years and if you are still married at the end of that time you can apply for "indefinite leave to remain" in the UK. The next step after that is to apply for British citizenship. For your own sake DON'T be tempted to work before you get the marriage visa, the Immigration Service takes that very seriously and has a policy of applying to the courts for a deportation order in such cases. Were that to happen you would have verylittle prospect of being allowed back in the UK.
