Hello.

Now that I am staying here and injuring myself, what is the best option to make sure the costs don't overrun my budget?

is there a private way to get med insurance or would I have to do it through my company?

Thanks in advance!

*****.

However, it depends on what kind of premium you are prepared to pay and what kind of cover you expect from it?

What kind of damage are you doing to yourself?

You could get a personal health insurance policy for anywhere betwen 20,000 to 100,000 baht per year depending on what kind of cover you want.

Muang Thai Life Insurance have personal health insurance, as do many other local insurance companies. If your company has a group policy, you would get more bang for your buck, but they usually require say 12 or more participants each paying maybe 10- 15,000 a pop. Check if your company have it already and if you can join the scheme. You may also be restricted to specific hospitals.

Also, bear in mind that all hospitals here are businesses, and if they make more from your death than from keeping you alive, you die. Simple economics.

I know a few blokes with health insurance (not me, I would rather die), I'll let you know who's got the best deal.

Thanks Piant. I need an MRi on my knee and wrist old injuries I made worse by being a moron. I also ride my motorbike in bkk... And fancy motorcross. Sooner or later it's going to happen. I am starting my own company, so for now makes sense to just get it for me. So far going to the doctors here hasn't cost an arm and a leg, but if I need MRI or surgery... It may. Thanks for the advice. :)

Check first if Bupa covers injuries caused by motorbike riding, some policies doesn't! You will have also a waiting period of at least 3 month before coverage and they exempt previous and chronic illnesses! My Bupa Premium coverage costs 40000 B (55 years old)
