If you read romeomustlive's (Fred) journal yesterday, you'll know that there was a casting call for a new Thai movie today. So I went.

The casting call location was to be at Moo Ban Nakgila at or near one of the golf courses and after a bit of initial confusion, I managed to find Fred and the other farang who had come (there were just four in total, including Fred).

So we had sort of a "brunch" with one of the co-producers of this new movie and chatted and learned some details about the theme of the movie.

Many of you will remember "Suriyothai" which broke all box office records for a Thai movie and this movie will likewise be an extravagant production involving a cast of many hundreds and so big in fact that it will be produced by not one but several studios in a joint venture. Filming may begin as early as next month. It will be filmed in Kanchanaburi and the filming may take as much as two years!!!

Well, the film will be about an epic battle between the Thais and the Portuguese around the early 1500's during the reign of King Narai. Beyond that, I know little else.

So what about casting? We filled out an application, were photographed, and aside from the chat with the co-producer there wasn't much more to it. But the co-producer was an affable sort of guy and I think he was impressed with all of us and so I think the chances are pretty good that we'll be invited to participate as actors.

One last point. During the discussion with the co-producer he talked about the various roles to be played by foreigners such as soldiers, etc. I asked him what role he thought I could play and he said, "Missionary! You have a kind face and you would be good for that role!" Hahahaha I can't imagine myself playing a missionary, but who knows!

Stay tuned...next chapter to come when casting is announced! Thai stardom, here I come!!!! Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa!!!

Suriyothai is the story of a brave Thai Queen ( I think King Narai's queen). Apparently she was one of the first female Thai warriors and she went into battle along with her 3 (?) daughters. Bah I had an assignment on the movie for my Thai Civilization class...couldn't find it though. :|

Suriyothai was not King Narai's queen. Suriyothai the movie was the biggest f*cking bore. Even the Thais were yawning when I went to see it. But nobody can say a bad word about it, because a certain person's money backed the film.

You know, Khun Lung, in Thai movies like this, they tend to make the falangs into bad guys and fools.
