Someone needs to tell certain people in this country that the end point - top or bottom - of a crowded escalator is not an appropriate place for...

...contemplation.

I'm one of these people that walk up and down esculators, but it seems that most people in Thailand are unaware of this concept as they invariable block both sides of the step. I know it's petty but it really pisses me off.

it is petty and escalators r for ppl who DON'T want to walk. if u wanna walk up and down use the ******* stairs !!!

slightly tongue in cheek response !!

Would they be the same people who stop as soon as they step out of a lift, or get on the BTS before anyone has got off, or are generally in front of me when I am late for work (which is pretty much always).

I was once at the now defunct New World department store and at the top of the escalator was a big, crowded sale table of clothes and people were literally pushing each other over just to get off the damned escalator! What a stupid disaster!

disaster? Mike..disaster is a nice way of putting it. It's just funny how much sincerity there is everywhere else..but when you get to the escalator...well u know the rest

yesh and why in ******* hell do people think a narrow doorway, rather than the big empty space 5 steps away, is the place to stop and contemplate their next move (or have a phone conversation)?

what's the penalty for murder in these parts? is it steep? would anyone notice if i took a few of these idiots out? my kill hand's been itchy lately...

Same as the "mall walkers". These ppl walk 3 or 4 abreast on the sidewalk, in shopping malls, and like birds or fish, seem to instinctively stop or change direction as soon as you approach. Do these people work? they seem to be perpetually in a daze, meandering about in slow motion. Cull the herd Zeus, I'm loading some custom ammo right now...

Phew! I thought you were going to say, "for ... taking a dump." Definitely one of my pet peeves.

Actually I noticed that with Indian/South Asian people here, standing and chatting right at the top/bottom of escalators.

stop stop! i know it's annoying to be there and get these stupid situations but being here in this boring europe makes me miss thailand so much! (or mister, whatever)

you have to be away of that country to realise how funny all these situations are. anyway knock over those wankers or better, stop right behind them and shout from 3-4 cm into their ears: "KHOTHOT NA KHAAAAAAP!" so much fun!
