A new study by The Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) seems to indicate that Thais lie to pollsters. According to the study, only 3% of Thais consume alcohol and 80% claim to exercise regularly. Those numbers seem blatantly at odds with both the reality seen everyday in the country as well as other reports. For instance, here is a 2014 ThaiPBS story which reports that Thailand is the top alcohol-consuming country in the ASEAN region. The Center for Alcohol Studies indicated that 31.5% of Thais consumed alcohol regularly. To believe that alcohol consumption dropped from 31.5% to 3% in two years beggars belief. Even a complete prohibition on alcohol wouldn’t drive the number so low so fast. Combined with the fact that in 2015 the World Health Organization attributed 26% of all traffic fatalities in Thailand to alcohol leaves one wondering how The Thai Health Promotion Foundation had the testicles necessary to publish such a load of rubbish.

There's one thing I have thought a lot about and still, I am thinking about it. Proverb has it that travel enlightens you and broadens up your mind. On the other hand, being abroad a lot, and especially in one specific culture, also makes you strenghtening your streotypes if not even prejudices as you see specific behaviour every day. So my questions are as you can see above. As I said - be honest - first to yourself and then in your answers ! And NO beer option today - or.....aaah, what the heck! There is nothing worse than someone who hides behind avatars and never shows themselves. So...should we unmask one of TF's most annoying members? You decide...

Well I need you TF friends all to help me out. I've been living here in Thailand for over a year now and have decided to stay in Thailand. The question that comes up though is where..... At the moment I live in Jomtien (yes, next to infamous Pattaya) and I like the beach and relaxed life. The only disadvantage though is that there is not a lot of places to hang out since beer bars are not my favorite places to be :? So... I am thinking about moving to Krunthep.... however.. a big change though... no beach, ... lots of traffic, more stress but a lot of great places to go and good friends to meet..... So..... if you had to choose... where would you want to live? Bangkok metropolis or sunny beach city :?: and why? ... I need your help and persuasion
