It's been a long time since I sent a message here! Being busy with work and more with FB. Most of my friends from here before, I see now on FB. I got a little bit bored with it (like I was bored with TF a few years back ;-)) , especially the abundance of adds was killing me. Also the mass of useless post (does everyone has to know you're at MBK now?). I also blocked all games in FB. I decided to have a look on TF and here am I. I'm following very closely the flood in Thailand because I'm very worried about some friends that lives there. Until now everyone is safe. I feel with all Thais who lost their houses and income and those who died. I changed some pictures and put new ones from April - May 2001, when I was there. I'll be back in December and I'm staying in SE Asia for five weeks. I'll go to Cambodia (my first time) for a few weeks and the rest I'll stay in Chiang Mai and some days in BKK of course. Hope to see some of you there.

Newbie. Travelling To Thailand In November 2014 From Uk
Jordan_lips posted a question in Thailand Tourism
Hi Everyone. I am travelling to Bangkok in November and am staying in SEA for 6months. My plan is to follow the typical tourist path (up through Laos, Cambodia and vietnam). I have many friends who have travelled around the area, and have shared many stories. But, I am always open to suggestions. Does anyone have any particular advice as to where I should go along the way? popular spots? brilliant sights etc.? Im 21 years old, travelling on my own but very eager to meet new people. -

In my group "Frenchies in Thailand", I opened a discussion about my many trips to France. There, you can see some pics of the "old days", when I was still sleeping in my car or at best on a camping ground . Come here frequently as I will update as soon as I got pics digitized!

Anyone up for a drive to UK?

I can't say I'm a fan of Hua Hin as it's not the most beautiful Thai beach. I want to drive to the beach for a weekend, hate pattaya, and I don't want to travel more than 4 hours each way. I know it's hard to find the beautiful beaches of Phi Phi without taking a flight to Phuket, but I'm looking for Thai beach recommendations for somewhere close by that's relaxing and good for families. I'm leaning towards Samet as it's only 2-3 hours away. Chang is nice, but it's a bit too far for a weekend getaway. Recommendations?

Just curious if anyone knows of any decent hotels to stay at in Krabi and whats the best beach there? I will be in Thailand on March 4th and planning a trip to Krabi. I have already been to Samet , Samui and Phuket. I really don't need a 4 star hotel. What I look for is clean room , air conditioner , hot water and if I can get it - free wifi and breakfast. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Greg

Has anyone stayed there and could you tell me is it as nice and destinctive as the web site makes out? During my three weeks in September I am planning to avoid the tourist areas and try to see as much of the real Phuket and the mainland up too Khao Sok and possibly beyond as I can. :D:D

The Traveller's Group is setting up a kind of contest that I would like to promote also here. Let's play a little mind game here: We are 89 members in this group and we want to hire two big busses to spend the weekend somewhere. Start would be on a Friday afternoon and we would have to come back on Sunday evening because on Monday, we have to work. So which destination would you recommend and why? Also non-members are welcome to send their ideas. For your contributions, please go to http://www.thailandfriends.com/group...ss#gmessage625 The best answers of a member resp. a guest will be honoured with one of the famous (or notorious?) Traveller Group Awards each! So let's go! - But where?

There's one thing I have thought a lot about and still, I am thinking about it. Proverb has it that travel enlightens you and broadens up your mind. On the other hand, being abroad a lot, and especially in one specific culture, also makes you strenghtening your streotypes if not even prejudices as you see specific behaviour every day. So my questions are as you can see above. As I said - be honest - first to yourself and then in your answers ! And NO beer option today - or.....aaah, what the heck! Comfort is always a passenger's number 1 priority, especially if we have to travel long hours by air. This is why a lot of our favorite airlines have upgraded their services, food and facilities to suit every passenger's needs. The traveling experience for me begins at the check-in counter and extends to the getting my luggage safely back in the shortest waiting time. My best experience so far is "Thai Airways".

Ill be back in BKK in Feb, few nights then off to visit brother that lives just outside Khon Kaen, I normally fly, however this time I was thinking to go by Rootfai, check out scenery take a few pics etc, i know it takes around 8-9hrs, but thought it might be a worthy experience. Ive not travelled by train in Thailandbefore apart from BTS, anyone travelled this route or similar journey? Is it worth doing? Any opinons or advices would helpfull Thanks Marko
