PJack
I heard starting tonight 6 pm that alcohol sales are banned until after Kings Bday. I know usually this is only for Buddhist holidays and election days but this is what I heard from restaurant owner - he got it from police. Can anyone confirm? English_Bob
Alcohol banned until Sunday at midnight. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffbshare.me%2FAYGP2&h=cf0cd Due to another round of Bangkok elections, Thai authorities have issued papers telling bars, pubs and clubs that they cannot sell alcohol this weekend. The main nights affected are tonight (03/12/10) and tomorrow night (04/12/10). The ban on alcohol might be enforced until as late as midnight on Sunday. As far as I know this only applies to Bangkok and Pattaya is unaffected. There might well be a mass exodus this weekend to Pattaya and I don’t blame them. However, it doesn't say restaurants. Pubs got a 'ban letter'... restaurants didn't. No clarification from my usual source.
yamahacrasher
Normally hotel bars, hotel clubs also sell booze during these holidays. Used to go to Novotel before, forgot what no-booze-day it was. Packed.

Being 50 just ain't worth celebrating! yeh? what was it like? what i'm hearing is that this applies primarily to lower Sukhumwit. alleged elections, apparently although y'all in tha ghetto can no doubt figure out if 'tis true tomorrow AM... if you don't hear/see some pickup trucks with a sound system promoting some dipshits who somehow think waking voters up will win them votes, there's no erection i mean election. went out to a local joint (Town in Town area) and had no problem ordering a pitcher of Chang to inhale. whatever the ****'s happening, preliminary reports suggest it's only happening to lower Suk.
