How do you know that you have grown up ???

< Besides your ages & your wrinkles.. of course>

Well, I have been asking myself this question for a few years now...

I mean, I have noticed myself... there is no much change in me...

I feel I am still the same person as I was 10 or 20 or 25 years ago... only more independent.

But, I have noticed a few things that has changed around me...

1> I find ppl listening to me more than when I was youger.

2> I could think/say of something that somehow manage to stop ppl to think about... at some point.. <my boss, my ex for example>

3> It seems to me that am no longer scared of the coming probs... <it seemed to me there is always a solution at the end>

4> I understand/sympathise/help ppl more than I used to... I think about others more.. see more/feel more...

5> I think I can be able to take care of someone <a baby> ... I used to be scared of a baby.. but now I am not.

6> I think about my own actions....

7> I stop take things too seriously

8> I dont expect anything from anyone anymore.... kind of whatever...

9> I trend to appreciate friendship more than relationship... < I mean I perfer having/being with Friends more than BF now..>

MmMMmmm something like that.... there are loads of more things though...

But I cant be bothered to write them all on here...

But I really want to know... how do you guys know that you have grown up??

Share yours ?

When I was young I had relatives (aunts and uncles) who were really stuffy old people and were mean to me. Even my parents were very strict and for example wouldn't allow me to watch Elvis on TV because he was a "bad influence on young people".

I remember saying to myself then, "When I get old I'm not gonna be like them!" And guess what? I'm not! So rest in peace you mean people because I treat everyone, regardless of age with respect!

The answer to the forum question: I may grow old but I'll never grow up! It's too much fun to still be a kid at heart!

1> I became taller than my mum. (still not as tall as daddy, but he's started shrinking now. . . . . so one day).

2> Now it doesn't hurt when mum hits me.

Can't think of much else, physically I've grown up, but mentally I'd say I'm growing younger, quite happy about that part though :)

I think I feel 'mature' since I have lost my dad, maybe becos Im the eldest kids. It was a big shock as he never been sick or been in the hospital before. I feel responsible to family since. Think more about the future , mum and brother.

so, for me thought is the thing to show that you grow up yet or not....

ha ha ha....excellent answer...I like that one.

Will you ever grow up? = Will you ever conform to the social standards society imposes on you?

I do not really think that anyone is grown up, we grow older and gain more experience in life but to actually grow up....hhmm....

I know people who are in positions where being grown up is everything, however behind the scenes are cool, extremely "childish", I see there is nothing wrong with that at all....what some people refer to as "childish" is often just a fundamental desire to have a laugh and enjoy yourself outside of the constraints of everyday life.

OK, so you have the 'Pretenders', like on this site, many guys who deny ever banging a hooker or having an oily wank, maybe it woudl not be "grown up", "ethical", "moral" or "mature" to engage in such low life activities.........Yet I knwo for a fact the majority of them do, especially one of the slightly older members who tries his hardest to preach from his soap box.....

So, I have gained a lot of life experience, and have learned from some of it, have learned how to handle situaitons better (at times) have learned that hitting skinny people is not right, violence is not the answer (unless someone throw a punch at you first)......

In the military, I was force to mature rather quickly as well. At the age of 20 I was already placed in a leadership role, where I commanded the lives of many people older than me. So I had to in turn act more mature and know what I was doing.

The military?

Sorry but being in the Military is about the last thing that will help you grow as a human being. Sure we need them but in general anyone choosing to be in the military either is below average inteligence poorly educated, has gay tendency or inclinations [mostly in denial though].

The whole point of the military for the vast majority of the recruits is to have people programmed to take orders all the time unquestioning and unthinking. If all the armies of the world were great intellects they would never be at war in the first place!

Bascially the military are an unfortunate evil that we need in the interests of national defense [of all countries] but the by product is to produce a lot of dysfuntional and narrowminded people who have a hard time thinking for themselves or at all sometimes.

Ok so this is a very general and broad critical view but being in the military is about the last place to be to "grow up". Training people to kill on cue is not exactly the height of human growth.

I got old"ER" when the bank gave me an upgrade from silver to gold.......I'm finnally mature!

true..the bank gives you an upgrade if either your assets or your liabilities have reached a certain level...living comfortably with either one of it ..is certainly a sign of maturity
