tallboyno1
I read a journal about a guy that was asking about good gyms in BKK so I would also like to know more about them, where they are, what they offer and prices etc. 8) I havent been to any one but heard about California Gym ? that should be good I guess. Any good recommendations in BKK?
Malky
California and Fitness First are probably the most popular gyms in Bangkok. They are pricey, though. You will probably pay the same price as you would back home. There are plenty of gyms dotted throughout Bangkok ranging from 5-star hotel gyms to your 20 baht 'half the machines are broken' type gyms. Loburt
California is great if you're an exhibitionist and don't mind people on the street staring at you as you work out. Also, the way they set up speakers out on the street blasting technofascist workout music at passersby is pretty obnoxious. Fitness First has several locations, is well-equipped and is reasonably priced. Clark Hatch has several locations and isn't bad either, but not as big as Fitness First. The Capital Club has just about everything but is expensive. It's great except for the fact that you can't get away from the too loud music when classes are on. It also has squash courts, a few tennis courts, sauna, steam, whirlpool and there is also a spa, but you have to pay for the spa separately. tallboyno1
Well if you are there for 2 weeks and want to go gyming for about 4-5 times and dont like the idea of looking around all of BKK. So they charge you about 200-300 bath per time? Anything around the Sukhomvit area?
Loburt
Most hotels would accomodate that, but might be a bit more expensive, like 400 or 500 baht a time. Check out the Sheraton Sukhumvit. They've got a fairly nice gym.

They've got a fairly nice gym. I stayed at Sheraton at the river last time but that gym hmm was not so fun and they charge you anyhow for everytime you go there. Maybe more fun to got to other places I think. I will check California, Fitness First, Clark Hatch and The Capital Club the. I will check it up from the web! Thanks Loburt and Malky! Norfolkinchance
I am a member of Pacific Club in Pacific Tower 2 - 28-30th floor. It is a great club to hold meetings, impress customers. Has great and VERY well priced Western, Thai and Chinese restaurants, nice relaxing bar, library, events. It also has a gym on 30th floor. Can run looking down on Sukhumvit Rd traffic, and it is well equipped. Never busy or full of muscle bound young posers (which is of UTMOST importance to a lazy, out of shape slob like me). You can get in there, go at your own pace or have a personal trainer. It also has a great steam room, sauna and spa! I am going 3 times per week right now (apart from now I am in China for 2 weeks) and eventhough it is really expensive, it is exclusive, private, quiet and comfortable. I have also joined a gym for myself & Mrs Matt at Novotel Bang Na. Only 20,000 baht for us both (10,000 each) per year. Surely the other Novotels in BKK would offer same/similar! Good luck! breakofdawning
Although I'm not a member right now, I still can't find any nicer gym than the Fitness First Landmark. The equipment, classes are good and i'ts quite spacious in my opinion and not that crowded, unlike California fitness!

MisterMatlock
I must have missed this forum... I tried posting my own forum topic, but all I got was people trying to show off their "wit" or lack of it... I'm trying to decide between staying at Fitness First or joining Sports City. As far as I know, SC is the most expensive gym in the city... I just want to know if anybody has any opinions of either FF or SC.

superskater
I'll probably join fitness first when I return to BKK I don't like the loud music at california Plus I heard they have double pricing for foreigners and farangs California wow is also making a separate gym for women only Fitness first sounds better to me
BKKTyson
I like simple. I actually train myself in Lumpini Park but if you want something more organized you can contact Fit Pro Asia at www.fitproasia.com and say Tyson sent you they have BootCamp style classes that are fun and work really well don't see to many out of shape guys coming out of Boot Camp do ya? I love Body Weight exercises for resistance and we also do a lot of agility drills as well and will help you be a better sportster instead of a bodybuilder who needs mirror muscles? anenglishman
Another option is individual training. I use a guy called Russell Lee. he is from taiwan, he visits u and he is good, but not cheap. JoeyFantana
http://www.bangkokrecorder.com/magazine/bangkok-life/the-big-debate-fitness-first-or-california-fitness-1043.html Fitness First definately sounds better, though since I prefer to work out completely alone, I prefer gyms that noone likes . . . Several reasons for that, abormally sweaty and unusually weak are two of them . . . I used to work out at Nasa Vegas around noon for that very reason and so I can only recommend that place - no hassles, more realistic prices and a TV with each running machine/cross trainer . . . And they have a huge jacuzzi, big screen TV, Billiards table and in house massage . . . Anyone know of a Gym with a 25m or longer pool?
