Mikee_Moose
The best is apprarently the Sethaputr Dictionary, which I believe also produces an electronic PC version. Good luck
cosmoasianbabe
tried lexitron. but there were no specific terms i often need. thanks though.
khun_lung
I do use Lexitron almost daily. It's an invaluable tool for me. Another is WordWeb which is English only, but very useful as a dictionary and thesaurus nonetheless. It's a free download and you can find it here: http://wordweb.info/free/

indighost
As far as hard-copy goes, Paiboon Publishing recently released their Thai-English dictionary. It's great.
inamorato25
Back in the "olden days," when I was doing Italian ==> English translation work, I used a print bilingual learner's dictionary for the quick translation, then a regular all-Italian dictionary to check for more complete definitions when I wasn't sure. It took forever. Now it's present day, and it's Japanese ==> English. Same process, but I now use an electronic dictionary for the quick fix (particularly useful in Japanese, since you can write unfamiliar kanji right into the touch pad). It saves TONS of time, and I rarely need to go all-Japanese since the good electronic dictionaries now have loads of info. That, combined with the context is usually enough. I'd suggest you do the same. Just get an electronic dictionary (and have a bilingual, and native-speaker print dictionary for both languages on hand for emergencies). I bought the CyberDict 9 in Panthip last year and it's pretty good. You can write Thai directly on the screen, and it has multi-reference and grammar functions (No, I don't translate Thai. Not a chance. It's just for studying Thai). One related thing -- if you do go looking for electronic dictionaries and find one that has a memory function for recently searched words, please let me know. None of the ones on the market up until last year had this function, but it's handy if you are looking up a new word and want to review it the next day. Good luck! SleeplessAdrian
I am using Thai2English www.thai2english.com Converts words..and even phrases of Thai words (though you must have good Thai grammar to construct what he/she trying to say to you)

Sukhumvit_Farang
For the translation of obscure words, you might try the Oxford Duden Pictorial Thai - English Dictionary. It has pictures of objects and gives detailed names of their components. I don't know, however, if this dictionary would cover all TYPES of trees, for example, but it would certainly cover every PART of a tree.

Johnsd
Make sure the book has the Phonetic Pronounciation of Thai, plus the Thai - Eng / Eng to Thai. The electroinc ones are great but marketed to Thai's, hence you won't be able to take advantage of the essential features. It will just drive you crazy, until they can find a big enough Western market and decide to change the sorftware a bit to be as functioanl to use for Falang as it is for Thai. Try CD with a book, and/or a Thai friend.  (_____) Chog-dee
