thaibel
Germany 2 - 4 Argentina England 1 - 1 Portugal (After extra-time Portugal wins the shoot out) Italy 2 - 1 Ukraine Brazil 3 - 3 France 5 - 3 (extra time) Saw some better referees last matches. Seems like all the others r send home. Although one of the Brazilian goals was off side (but the referee couldn't se it, because it was close. The linesman should have seen it). zeusbheld
agree the linesman should have seen the offside. i expect *all* the refs got a talking to after those games. if they didn't they at least they couldnt miss that blatter publicly *****-slapped the 20 card ref. the refs were specifically instructed to card for time wasting by fifa btw. i think this is um... a waste of time. couldn't they just penalize by adding time back in without interrupting play, and spare us the cards except in the most outrageous instances? CiaranM
germany 2-1 argentina england 0-1 portugal italy 1-0 ukraine brazil 1-2 france just feel germany will be too strong and fit for the argentinians. enland have been f**king awful so far, but still haven't lost. think portugal might just edge it, but the loss of deco is a big blow. italy to grind out a 1-0 win in the most boring game of the tournament so far. really fancy france to upset brazil .. brazil have only played in flashes and look dodgy defensively. france were dreadful in 2002 and started woefully here. however, they have started to click and r improving with every game. lot of older players in the team, but also a lot of experience and a lot of players who have "been there, done that and got the t-shirt" !! also, just wonder if they have the edge having whacked brazil in the world cup final off 1998. zeusbheld
just feel germany will be too strong and fit for the argentinians. been reading about klinsmann's training regimen, seems he's quite a good coach. italy to grind out a 1-0 win in the most boring game of the tournament so far. was hoping the earth would open and swallow both teams. really fancy france to upset brazil .. brazil have only played in flashes and look dodgy defensively. france were dreadful in 2002 and started woefully here. however, they have started to click and r improving with every game. lot of older players in the team, but also a lot of experience and a lot of players who have "been there, done that and got the t-shirt" !! also, just wonder if they have the edge having whacked brazil in the world cup final off 1998. it's plausible. france match up well and older players tend to show up for the big games. and brazil's defense has been shabby. brazil, though, have a way of playing just well enough to win (going back to at least 1994). frankenburner2
hmmm...I had argentina winning a penalty shootout after finishing 2-2.....BUT...having watched the first half, 0-0 looks like a more likely score....but then again...if my prediction was to come true...it'll mean one hell of a second half! (argentia is looking pretty good!) anyone gonna bother staying up to watch italy - ukraine? btw....anyone been watching the game on ESPN via www.viidoo.com ? some ex-player, Balboa...providing "color comentary"...what a moron! You could see it in the eyes of the 2nd and 4th penalty takers for arg.....you could just tell they were gonnna miss..... oh.....hey! Cris Pilok....i guess neither of us win our bet! zeusbheld
credit to lehman though. they didnt miss, he saved 2, although they were not good shots. he almost stopped another one (maxi rodriguez) but juuuuust missed it. that little kiss and make up with kahn maybe helped. klinsmann's looking like a friggin genius on the goalie selection at the moment. ahpuiahsan
Germany certainly not playing so well tonight, Argentina can kills off the game early in 2nd half. Not so sure what's the coach of Argentina thinking, taking out Crespo and Ridqime, worst still, the goalkeeper just rest at the stretcher to be carried off....lol well...host country, as i have said in the other thread, will surely go into semis....

frankenburner2
here's a thought: assuming england beat portugal, and brazil beat france, and brazil go on to beat england in the semi-final.....and assuming germany beat italy in their semi-final.....who the hell am I going to cheer for then? I mean, nothing against nor for either team, but I just don't feel enough one way or the other to really care.......having said that....I hope at least one team, either italy or portugal make it through to the final....that way I will have someone to cheer for (or against if you like) but hey...who knows...maybe england still have a chance....a germany - brazil final doesn't really do anything for me..... zeusbheld
i dont have any partisan interest in any of the teams. but from the point of view of interesting football to a non-partisan, brazil, germany, france: A . germany is at home and plays better and better with each match. and lehmann's on fire. klose finally scored in an elimination game. brazil are brazil. they haven't been dazzling yet except for occasional flashes from kaka, although robinho's got potential. they could step it up any time. they look soft in the back though. still, the old french guys are sentimental favorites, all those leftovers from that great team of 2 cups ago, and some new talent. they've not showed up until the spain game, but they have the potential to be dazzling. and they're not soft in the back. portugal: B. talented, ruthless and nasty, but don't think the dutch were innocent victims--they took just as many cheap shots etc. england: C. potentially upgraded to B+/A-, they have the talent except up front, but have shown zip zip zero imagination so far) ITALY: F-. if we used more of the alphabet i'd give them a Z. they have loads of talent (not as stacked as previous editions but stacked). still, against tough opponents they tend to drop back into catenaccio (which translates to "specators, please poke your eyes out with chopsticks or you'll have to watch this"). CONCLUSION: germany vs france or brazil could be beautiful. italy vs. england could be the dullest final ever.
chumpae
but at least the portuguese Goalkeeper make it alone ! So what can they do ? This man is Worldclass , Picking one more than Lehmann . So my Dream final England - Germany , must wait for two EM or four years WC ! So hope , the french can stop Brazil . Allez les Bleu .
frankenburner2
stunned....******* stunned.... argentina - out england - out brazil - out italy...well..**** italy anyway..... england, while not terribly fantastic, deserved to win....rooney getting sent off was a horible call.... and...gulp...i hate to say it....after watching france play tonight, they look in pretty good form....who the hell am I going to cheer for now? Germany? guhh...well...i'll cheer for them against italy...and probably won't care much after that....however....should italy beat germany, at least I will have someone to cheer for.... So my Dream final England - Germany , must wait for two EM or four years WC ! So hope , the french can stop Brazil . Allez les Bleu . he was not as impressive as lehmann. he had one good save and the english players have been studying at the Edgar Davids School of Big Game Penalty Taking. lehmann had two very impressive saves and almost a 3rd. france 1-0 brazil was worth staying up for, zizou was like a kid again, and congrats to 2antique on the winning goal. CiaranM
as one commentator has pointed out england were actually lucky to lose to portugal !! ?It could have been worse for England,? writes a sympathetic Tico Arregui. ?They could actually have won their match and then gone on to take a real beating at the hands of France, Italy or Germany.?
