GoldMember
2 US cargo planes which were refuelling at Glasgow airport en route to Israel last weekend it transpired were carrying laser guided bombs for the Isreali army.Small wonder little Condi wasnt calling for an outright ceasefire when she was well aware her government has been busily shuttling weaponry across the Atlantic and thus is de facto heavily complicit in the current annilhilation of Lebanon. In addition its hardly astute diplomacy using 'her oldest& closest ally"-the UK as some sort of 'aircraft carrier' without even having the decency of telling the government .Talk about taking the p+ss.Blair really ought to have chosen his friends more wisely. Then again..we all knew that a long time ago. Loburt
Stupid move by the US if true. At the moment, though, most reports say they are still 'allegations.'
Loburt
If so, then it's basically posturing by the minister.
CiaranM
Stupid move by the US if true. At the moment, though, most reports say they are still 'allegations.' From my understanding the US has complied with Israel's request for an expedited delivery of satellite and laser-guided bombs. I thought this was all above board and confirmed by the Bush Administration? Arab world will be pissed but if it means less civilian casualties I can see why they have complied. as israel doesn't appear to give a f**k who it bombs i fail to see how giving them more bombs will mean less civilian casualties !!! English_George
Everything that's going on betwen Israel and Lebanon is one of the most affective utilisations of media by political powers in the last 50 years. Condoleezza Rice 'keeping up appearances', a leak to the media about the 'Scottish Stopover' and finally the silence from every other world power in Rome. This lets everyone know that "it's ok, and there are serious weapons involved, but every country agrees we should carry on so lets do it". And............Doesn't it just take you on a trip down memory lane when Al-Qaeda start talking about "avenging evil deeds"????? Everything that is happening now is deliberate and premeditated for more world domination; the vast resources in mind. I know the question was about whether the US should have told Blair they were bringing a guest to Scotland, but I believe that would have been common knowledge amongst most taxi drivers around Westminster let alone the government. There is some twist, to the Lebanese rift.

GoldMember
Could this be a sign that the world is coming to an end shortly? Well thats what Newt Gingrich basically said in a BBC 'Newsnight' interview(i watched it and got the impression his opinion was listened to respectfully but wasnt taken too seriously) . Here's a link below from the Guardian Newspaper which comments about it.... http://commentisfree.guardian.co.uk/andrew_murray/2006/07/we_are_on_the_wrong_side.html Seems though that the British minister involved has actually seemingly begun backing down from previous allegations about unauthorised flights and that it appears certain officials here were aware of these weapons flights. This perhaps does partly explain why President Blair has been remarkably quiet recently. One assumes he knew better. Though it is acknowledged US arms are still transitting through Uk airports en route to Israel to assist the ongoing barrage of Lebanon.Heres a Reuters link.... http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L27908555.htm
primetime
No surprise here. The U.S. has always been a puppet of Israel.....even well before Bush and friends. Bush and his friends are all a bunch of liers who think they are gods gift to the U.S. and can do nothing wrong and are above the law.

Brayon
Do you guys know the word (propaganda)???? Do you really think that the USA need any Airbase or Airport to bring (whatever) around the world?????
English_George
Do you guys know the word (propaganda)????Do you really think that the USA need any Airbase or Airport to bring (whatever) around the world????? This is what I said in my post, the media are being used to justify any arms supply by the US. The US have been supplying Israel for years The utilisation of media to influence public opinion is 'Propaganda', this is used so much by the US that you cannot belive ANYTHING you read in a US newspaper (and many UK). Anyone who still believes that the media has a free reign and can still print without censorship or bias is living in a world that never existed. The Israel-US affair has been going on for decades, the media lying has been going on for decades, political corruption has been going on for decades and WE the public are on a need to know basis. Christ. does everyone not remember the invasion of Iraq??? Did everyone take the bait for that? Are there still people out there who truly believe Iraq was invaded for the good of the people?? "There's something happening here" Echoes of Vietnam were in Iraq and the reverberation is still being heard around the halls of the Pentagon with whats going on today. "Stop, look and listen. It's all there"
Loburt
No surprise here. The U.S. has always been a puppet of Israel.....even well before Bush and friends. You mean like when Eisenhower ordered the Israelis to turn around and get the hell out of the Sinai desert and give it and the Suez Canal back to Egypt? You mean like during the '80s when the US sold F-16s and AWACS to Saudi Arabia despite strong Israeli protests? You mean like when ... oh, now I remember. You're the one who made that post saying let everyone in the Middle East kill each other and then all the problems will be over. Brilliant. English_George
Ha ha!! You couldn't have picked a worse quote than that one! Richie Furay, who co-wrote "For What It's Worth," was on--of all places--Fox News yesterday to perform a song live. Not only did he state (again) that the song is not about the Vietnam conflict, he also voiced his support for the US presence in Iraq. Haha???? I didn't realise we were playing a game of 'let's be school children and insist our opinion is right and yours wrong. I make no reference to saying anything about 'a certain song' having any relevance to anything. I merely used the lyrics to emphasise my point. If you want to make associations and comment on something i didn't say then thats your bag, don't make assumtions about what people say and try and tell them they are wrong about something they didn't say. You are obviousely one of those people who likes to try and contradict others and tell them they are wrong, the word is 'Schadenfreude', and it roughly translates in the dictionary as 'those who take pleasure in other peoples misfortune. It roughly translates in my dictionary as 'Wanker'. So piss off with your "For what it's worth" connotations to my post, I was using the phrase not the meaning behind the song. If you want to discuss it further then please do.

vbroker
This thread has to hold the record for complete, utter, ridiculous nonsense versus the number of posts thus far. Keep eating and feeding the grey matter those feces born Sukhumvit Soi 4 waterbugs and cockroaches. The TF think tank is alive and well. Brain dead is more accurate. Thinking has nothing to do with it. Drinking and drug abuse might. I won't waste my time citing and debunking numerous examples taking the word "moron" to a new level. Keep up the good work. Hmmm getting your news from CNN, BBC, the Guardian.... Hell no, they're not. They make it up as they go along; telling stories amongst themselves around the bonfire of stupidity. Reading, research and facts? What the hell is that? Sounds like too much work and it won't support the trash. Why bother? Copying and pasting is more fun anyway. And when confronted with the facts there is nothing left to do but twist, distort and lie. If that doesn't work, the old standby name calling is put into action. My favorite time. Loburt
Mod Note Calling the other people in these forums morons, brain dead, drunks and drug abusers, etc., is abusive and unacceptable. Attack the position, not the persons involved. One outburst is usually excused. Repeatedly poisoning the debate with lies, insults and relentless contempt for the rest of the membership is not welcome here.
